yeah found a car down in wales giving the owner a deposit on friday then getting flights and hotel sorted and then i get the joy of a 9 hour drive back to aberdeen cant wait :)

like said a 1.8 na even on ITB would just hit 170 with tons of head work, pistons aftermarket ecu etc etc, not even the 2.0 would see 190 without thousands!

best off either aiming lower, or like said get the ST170 engine and fit that with better cams and itb's

My cusion had a 1.8 zetec Fiesta Si race car (ex Fiesta challange chapionship car) at his work last year, that they managed to map it up to get 198bhp out of on the rollers.

Can't remeber the torque, but here a list of stuff it had

DAT S60 ECU
Jenvey TB Kit
Big Valve and flow Head, with custom high left cams.
Forged High Compression Pistions.
Lighterned, Balanced and shot peeded rods and crank.
Custom 4 branch and exhaust system.
load other bits like oil cooler, breather system and etc.
Quaife BC gearbox

Think the car belonged to some woman race driver, she also owns a MG 1.8 ZR with about 260bhp on tb's and etc. Think she uses that in one of the Castle Combe championships.

So I think 190bhp is about the most your get with N/A with about 8k spent on the engine and stuff, any more power your be spending even more silly amounts of money with a BTCC spec engine at about £30k to £40k. Cheapest option is to Turbo it, but that gets expensive if you want the internals to be stronger to cope better with higher boost.

an old timer at cadwell a few week ago had a 1.8 in a westfield kit car which was a raceline spec engine and that was just under 190bhp on carbs not injection, cost was around 5k to build, how much you going to be spending?
