I'm hoping to complete my engine swap over the weekend after next. Me, tango and happypaul were going to do be doing the swap but Paul is worried he may not be able to do it now.

All being honest Paul was always going to be the brains behind the operation with me and tango just playing with spanners and carrying stuff. Neither of us really know what we are doing.

I'm based in Worcester, west midlands. I should be able to sort out a bed and it should only take the weekend

And if Paul is a legend and can make it (winkwink ) the more hands the better. I'll make sure there's some beers in the fridge

undo all the electric plugs! Undo all the pipes and drain any fluids. Take off engine mounts and take out engine!

Then bolt in new engine (doing necessary things for it to go in) and fitting is the reverse of removal

1.8 replacing a 1.6. but need to put in 2L cams, changing the inlet for an HO. I have never really done anything like this and even tango has said he would prefer it if we had someone who had done it before, so its not just me

Quick question. The new engine has been sat for a while. So Im gonna use an engine flush. Do I do this while it is still in the old car as then I can drain the shit out with all the fluid and put fresh stuff in when it goes into the new car. I was then gonna put in some STP engine additives to clean up the injectors and stuff when I fill up the car. That sound about right?

Oh and any help would be greatly appreciated still as I am still pretty nervous about it all.

leave the old engine oil in the engine until its in your car and running, then do the flush then fill with fresh oil and new filter, as for additives, the only stuff i recommend as i know for a fact it works is the Forte or Wurth additives, anything your can buy in halfords is usually rubbish or make no difference.

as for replacing the cams, its easy, just follow the guide in the haynes manuel, i think its under the head gasket section, and just follow the tightening procedure and torque settings, can't go wrong then, and the inlet manifold, its easy to change, just make sure you replace or refit both the gaskets

did you get an ecu sorted in the end?

Best thing to do regarding cleaning injectors is take them to an injector cleaning place, pref' somewhere with an ASNU machine, and get them to ultrasonically clean them

That good then, I think my engine conversion has cost me about £340 for everything I needed, that included a fiesta ghia too, aswel as a HO inlet from sjoyce on here which was cheap and then the 2.0 litre cams, maf sensor, TB, spare ecu and injector rail all for £30 from local scrappy, all I need is time now, I'd love to lend a hand with yours mate but a tad far, sorry bud
