does the pic below look correct? im sure there should be another red wire from the alternator going to the red wire on the starter (just didn't put it on yet).

the pin on the left is the earth strap connecting the soleniod to the starter

the big fat red wire comes directly from the battery

the 1 in the middle comes out of the sleeve along with the big fat red 1 on the right

is that correct? reason i ask is the soleniod doesn't appear to engage the flywheel, when you turn the engine over you can hear the starter spin but its not turning the engine

if its not engaging the engine then the the starter motor is faulty. unless of course the wiring is wrong and its spinning the wrong way around which means it cant flick out and engage the flywheel

i would check but the car is in the garage and i dont think i have any pics on my computer of starter motor wiring, soooooooo you will have to wait for someone else to comment on that lol

Get a wooden hammer and thump the starter motor, or even take it off (wires disconnected of course) and see if you can move the solenoid. That's the usual fix to a sticking starter motor, I had the same issue a while ago that happened intermittently. It stopped once I thumped it. But yeah, wires are correct, connect up that red wire from the alternator to the red on the starter too, though it's not critical as it just eases the load on the battery during a heavy starting load.
