Yeah, protect the sump and stiffens it up a bit. Only one that does on the ZS. I've got a rear one, not fitted it yet though.

sporty mk3s have them standard, did notice a difference without it i must say, steering seems "floppy" as if the car was swaying at the bottom

They have a lower strut brace as standard? what "sporty" mk3's have that?

its not a strut brace as such but i think si's have a "brace" under the car - nothing like the brace on your zs

was gonna say, why diudnt they put it on the zs!

I thought they just had anti role bars whereas the pov specs didnt.

the lower strut brace that joints one suspension leg to the other, it does the same job as the OMP aftermarket one for the mk4/mk5

but its standard, XR's RS's and the 16v Si had them, they double as an exhaust hanger

anyone with an Si (or had one) whos played about underneath will know what im talking about

Hmm. Does that have quite the same effect though? Doesn't really look as well made and shaped lol but thats just my eyes

its not as good as a strut brace chris

and you do need to do alot to make the mk3 handle "well" -

polybushing
decent suspension
most importantly good tyres
good brakes
etc

i couldnt disagree more

i'm not saying they are bad - i loved my xr2i - and imo non pas fiestas were better for steering feel

but face facts - you may disagree - and i am a massive ford fan - but a mk3 fiesta as it is is not a good handling car - but with mods it can be a good car - see dalsy/bridgend boy/luca's fiesta's and they are top notch - but they have a very good setup - takes more then a lowering kit to make it better my standard ST would run rings around a mk3 without a very good setup - standard vs standard anyway it would have been much better

oh yea, cant argue that, but id not say its a Bad car, even lowering it and polybushes the car will turn tight and be level round bends

well mine atleast, and my last Si, cant really speak for a 1.1 or something as ive never lowered one

but yea up agaisnt the far newer mk6 it be a lost battle


but compared to the mk4/5 it aint too far off, its the same chassis on mine as it is a mk5 zs with only the suspension turrets to set them apart

i never said it was bad

lower spec cars lowered arent too bad, i used to chuck my 1.3 around corners because i was a nob, i used to give that hell haha. it doesnt compare to the si though, but saying that, coilovers do help a lot
