hi all new to this site, just bought myself a ford fiesta si 1.6 the other week and someone i saw with another si reccomended me to here but forgot his username (sorry mate!) also from Barnsley. anyway, i was looking to change the gearbox oil earlier today but couldnt see the drain plug, can anybody point me in the right direction? possibly with a picture.

Also, is it much work to fit the 2 litre engine from the mk3 mondeo into these?

any help much appreciated.

Theres a bit of info about the late and early type zetec engines. You can fit the late type without welding mounts etc, you have to make up some brackets etc


As for changing the gearbox oil, theres no drain plug. Pop a driveshaft out to drain it.

According to the Haynes manual you can drain the gearbox oil by removal of the gear selector cap

thanks, ive managed to change the gear oil by removing the selector cap as you said will although i dont think all the oil was drained because i only jacked the front of the car up. i read about the 2 liter silvertop conversions and info on the website posted above but the engine i would like to convert to was the 2 liter duratec from the mk3 mondeo, my plan would be to buy a donor mondeo, strip the parts needed and break the rest of the car up to make my money back. does the fiesta gearbox fit the duratec engine from the mondeo?
