garys track car was an 1800 zetec with jenvey itbs different management etc lots of stuff done to it and lots of moneys spent and it was about 170 odd bhp. would rev to like 8500rpm i think he said!!

to demonstrate how low it is considering its merely a 30mm drop





the rain over the last week has left it dirty



order a new exhaust joint, might arrive tomorrow/saturday, if so ill take off the 2nd part of the four branch and have the joint welded to the flexi, the other end will be slotted and will fit and clamp as normal to the midsection, should put an end to leaks, might need to use some exhaust sealer as the direction of flow is the same as the way the joint will slot onto the midsection which is not common practice

will also be making/welding a proper hanger mount to each side of the 2nd part of the four branch (the two pipe piece that comes seperate from the 4 piece primaries)

i need to work out how theyre to be measured first but they will use the conventional rubber hanger that the standard set up uses so i can retain my standard mount setup

How did the arch come out? Already looks better in them pics.

ah yes, its loads better now, theres some still there but its black now and hardly noticeable, its too thick and was still persistent after 3 days of doing it, so ive called it a day lol, maybe a harder rubber will help i dont know

i can now confirm that my top speed in 4th gear is 105, and in 5th its 135mph(speedo, 128 GPS)

attended RS combe with BOEC had a great day, first event with the RSOC, and my first time at Combe, bloody loved it what a day out

been bit busy today, hate crawling around on the floor, and 5 hours of it is a bit of a beating

but im almost done sorting the exhaust so its sure worth it

got the car up in the air, got the second part of the four branch off, then removed the stupid joint

and then took the section and the new joiner upto my mate grayem for the welding done

after a cut to size i ended with this




its to fit like this




all done welded up to it, and a new hanger, new slots cut into the end piece for clamping




began to shape the hanger



by constantly referring it back to the hangers on the S brace




im just glad it all clears


after that was done and offered everything up under the car, i noticed everything was too long and would not piece together, and also the midsection was out of place and needed aligning.

so i removed the entire midsection, and left the backbox there


split the midsection in half at the joint, ready to make it shorter



i still have plenty of it left if i need to extend it when the standard downpipe/cat goes on for the MOT


with the section back on the car



i refitted the midsection, slotted it into the new joint that was welded to the four branch, fits like a glove, backbox refitted and im happy with the result

the exhaust joint was ordered from MIJ Exhaust, a shop on ebay etc and i woul highly recommend them, they do custom orders like mine or off the shelf parts and a wide variety of suitable pieces of exhaust


no more knocks and bangs, and the backbox is centred in the hole in the bumper, which is good

tomorrow now i will quickly take the bits apart to apply exhaust sealer paste as it is slightly blowing still

had everything sealed today, not a clamp it knocking the heatshield!

ugh ill never be free of this bloody exhaust

anybody interested in a 4-2-1 from ashley for your zetec... think twice!
its worth the extra money to get a more expensive stainless one

well liek you said theyre not for a fiesta, they dont have the same hanger designs, escort hangers are on the midsection just after the gearstick area

so there is no right way of doing it really

my ashley manifold used to fit shit and blow all the time as well.

and my boss had trouble with his on the mexico. they just fit crap like.

i need a manifold for my zetec lump. was gona buy a protec one a while ago, they look pretty tidy.
