Right, i have recently purchased some 'Apex Sport' shortened shock absorbers. I have the rear shocks on with some 30mm Eibach springs and it is amazing.

However i have ran into a problem fitting the front ones. The current thread size on the original shock absorbers are 8mm (M8) but the nuts don't seem to fit the Apex ones, i have been to Fords and got 2 brand new nuts and they are really smooth on the old ones but are still way to tight on the Apex ones.
They go on about 2/3 threads but after that it's nearly impossible to get it any further, i have already bent 2 allen ended torq bits!

Does Apex have some special 8.000000000000000000001mm nuts or something?

Lol i was just sat ontop of my wheels on the floor of my garage pissed off, and looked at my alloy wheel nuts, picked one up, tryed it and it fitted perfectly to the thread, so then i tried my old steel wheel nuts as it's the same thread and it turns out they are the same thickness as the strut nuts so i just used them and it's all good haha

Why, they are the same?

Both hardened steel, both M8, both 12mm thick
Only difference is that the ford shock thread was 30 tpi and the apex one was 20tpi
The ford nuts don't fit the apex shocks because they have too many tpi
Whereas the stud nuts which are exactly the same, but have less tpi so the glide on... fit

Only difference is that the shock nuts are zinc plated and the stud nuts are just raw steel

banter that mole. how much are these? i also happen to have 30mm eibach springs, but the shocks are shot so want to get new'ns and these sound good, especially if they're shortened as it will go slightly lower... how lower btw?

and the coilovers i want to fit need a service anyway, so these could be until the future!?
