jesus whats all this talk about the slam panel, if my memory serves me well the last time i seen it it was simply bent?

say the unlikely case the car has another bump on that direct part of the panel, of severe force, the worst that will happen is the car will loose its radiator, pas cooler inlet and the engine will be damaged

its not a main structural point nor is it a crumple zone, chris or who ever would be fine inside

lay off him a tad, the best thing he can do about it is the time consuming job of replacing it, and either bolting or welding a new one on, strengthening it wont be of much use, as it will just cause more damage if impacted there

All done.

18 minuites into running it in and the exhaust manifold caught fire.

Lucky i had some water, got it out quick. all the wirings ****ed and the whole.bay is black. Engine should survive.

I give up.

Should just be changing all wiring above the.mani and it'll be sorted.

Really not nice opening a bonnet to just see so many flames and see in my eyes a big part of my life about to burn to the ground.

So glad the damage was as minimal as it was. I have no luck! I quit with engine mods now ill buy a faster car instead.

Will.keep you all updated. On my way home now tool RAC 3 & 1/2 hours! Ibiza Wednesday so I can.jisy forget about.my.worries for a week.

Paul we think there may have been oil on it. All I know.OS the whole.manifold was covered on flames along woth the bonnet carpet !

Thank god you managed to stop it before it took over the entire car.

Funnily enough I do always have a fire extinguisher in my car for these very reasons, I don't think I will ever need it but better safe than sorry.

Makes me thankful I have a fire extinguisher.

As said very unlucky for it to catch fire as I spilt fuel out of the fuel filter on my brakes and that smoked like a twat on the way to meeting percy, it didnt catch fire though.

Yeah :) Well i'm on holiday for a week tommorow, i've been manically searching for people breaking on ZSOC so sent out loads of messages to people. hopefully will be able to piece all the bits from people.

God it sounded good when running in though. You guys haven't heard it in the flesh with cams yet. Its gooooood. Once fixed should be a monster again.
