VTR's aint very quick for a 1.6, much like 1.6 Si's

By all means the VTR isn't the quickest but I get the feeling you would prefer one to a VTS as they are very different to drive.

When you have a high compression, high revving engine you do not need low-down torque unless your car is excessively heavy (BMW 5 series for instance) or you are towing a caravan.

You'll notice that in different car championships, large litre N/A engines, high compression small litre N/A engine, supercharged engines and turbocharged engines all produce similar lap times, yet they all have a significant difference in torque output - some are suited to specific track layouts more than others, but generally they are the same rough times AFAIK.

When you drive an Integra properly, you are not ever in Vtec. Like driving a turbo, you are never not out of boost when driving it properly.

If you want a quick car, you will want something as light as possible with as smooth, long and powerful a power line as you can get. There's a reason why Dyno's derive the figure from x Torque to show x BHP per 100rpm, and not the other way around IMO.

Needless to say Vtec, VVTi, Turbocharging and Superchargering all work and they work well, because they all do what they are supposed to do and you cannot say outright which one is better than the other as its more about which application it is being used on and what it's being developed or "modified" for.
