Hi there my fiesta rs1800 gearbox is the worst am thinking about changing the box what would be best ?? Diesel box or LSD box any ideas plz

lsd box from a series two would be good, but you can always buy or modify a normal ib5 gearbox, install an lsd etc and you can install a puma gear linkage which will act as a short shifter!!

if as by the title 'gear nob like a stick in a bucket' its more likely the gear leaver linkage than the actual gearbox problem

well what it is av got a rs1800 am taking engine out to do the 2litre conversion (bored) and i was thinking about doing the box but not sure what to do with it the cars top end is s*** then theres the gear stick problem lol i have come down from a 400bhp scobby to the st170 then back to my rs1800 which i have owned for a year now just want to make it drive better any ideas or help i would be buzzing lads

i think if you wanna make it drive better then stick an ib5 gearbox on from a zetec engine'd escort where the starter motor is at the back therefore you an fit a nice four branch manifold on with ease without affecting heat soak to the starter motor, and also fit a puma 1.7 gear linkage so you get a shorter gear change!!

if you want top end speed, derv box.. never top ended that and Ive been off the clock with that

oh yeah, dont fit a puma linkage.. its a load of bollocks.

it will be the springs in the gear stick mate the selector box

sounds like the linkage is buggered, buy a low milage second hand one or fit a new one if they're still made, if your doing the 2.0litre conversion, are you replacing the ecu??, if so what code is it?? could be intrested
