Anyone a Teacher?

always fancied being a primary school teacher, I couldn't handle Secondary as I know first hand how much of a pain we can be :D

Just wondering if anyone knows what sort of things are needed?

I've had a bit of a researching session and it would appear I need to go to college to get the points to go to uni? Although I do have three M A levels in ICT.. So don't know if they will count for anything?

If possible i'd rather not go to uni, but if I needed to i'd rather not have to go to college and THEN uni, but then, sacrafices need to be made.

So I was just wondering if anyone is a teacher? Or has been? Or knows the pathway? I suppose starting as a supply teacher would be a way to get experience, build a sort of portfolio :laugh:

but yeah, if anyone has any on hand experience of how good the job is as well, I can imagine myself loving it.

This is just some random info i found.

Consider the following :
• Your images, once out, will be worldwide forever. They cannot be removed by producers at your request if you later change your mind (we sell the rights on to other companies). Do take time to think of the consequences. e.g. Will you ever want to teach children, etc?

• To be a good performer requires good looks, perseverance and a large dollop of interpersonal skills. Are you good with people, easy going and most of all, reliable (the reliable ones get most of the work)?

• A good porn star will take pride in their appearance and not just rely on being the 'new' face. This means going to the gym, keeping yourself clean, getting your hair done, etc (this includes blokes, too!).

• The industry in the UK has recently moved to a health standard of an HIV and full STD certificate with proof of identification on it. THIS MUST BE UNDER 30 DAYS OLD ON THE DAY OF THE SHOOT!!! Decent producers should not work with you without this paperwork. Tests are either free, cheap or up to £180 per month depending on where you live and how organised you are about getting booked in advance. Don't bother getting a test until you get on an agency's books or have been promised work. The tests take a week to develop. Always check the other performer's tests yourself.

• Take pride in your performance and learn from other performers on how to improve. Add your own personal touch/speciality to help make you stand out from the crowd. The UK is still way behind the US and European in terms of quality of performance (not all of you - some are really great!). We need to improve in order to compete internationally, which should mean more cash for all you stars and wannabes at the end of the day.

You can get work based training to start with which will involve college work, past that there its teacher training and then low wages as a NQT.

Rather seriously considering it, I can't sit at Tesco all my life as I'll hate it. I need to do something with my life and not rely on thinking about "being a self employed window tinter" or something else I fancy that won't happen :lol:
Always appealed to me, so will see what I can do.

Right now i'm struggling to find a university nearby that does the course as i'm not quite sure what i'm looking for or how to look for it :lol: been on UCAS and stuff and there are so many options.

I went to UNI with the ambition of becoming a teacher....(in english at primary school level, although subject doesn't really matter).
I finished my degree 3 years and i'm still not a teacher... :lolz:
The idea did initially appeal to me due to long holidays and reasonable pay (and the fact i actually enjoyed school as it was more often than not just a large social event everyday??)
But now I have my degree and I work in another job i've realised i don't really want to be locked in a room for 3/4 of the day with kids, talking with them on their level etc, it could be hard to keep up the 'act'.... Tbh, I still may consider it one day, when/if I have kids of my own, but currently its obviously not right for me...

In terms of reaching it, best way i'd have thought would be via college -> uni(subject) -> pgce OR college -> uni(Teaching specific??) -> done.


It's gotta beat Tesco's though mate, the fact your considering changing drastically is a good thing IMO...you'll find the right thing :thumbsup:

Secondry school can be good from the teachers perspective, so if you're cool to the kids they will be cool to you.
However most of the teachers at my school got bullied and locked in cuboards apart from the fit women and P.E. teachers haha

So I am getting help left right and centre from here and ZSOC so thanks a lot so far :)

This is what I have found..

Looking at this course would it be the right one to go for do you reckon?

Are you just the technician thats sort of in the background when things go wrong with the computers? or do you teach IT?

Yeah I won't lie, Couldn't hack a secondary school. I know how bad it is, i've not long been out of it and it was bad enough being a student let alone a teacher.
