G'day all. Well I hope you have had a better start to the new year than me. I was this morning woke up to one of the neighbours knocking the door, to tell me that my window was smashed and my stereo had been nicked.

Yes, I have an alarm, and yes I did hear it during the early hours of this morning, but quite frankly, I had a bit to drink last night, so was in no state to get up and check. They were considerate enough not to rip the wires out, so it's all intact ready to have another stereo thrown in. But I cant quite understand why they never took anything else. Had cd's in there, and a shiney momo gearknob - worth more than the stereo itself.

Yes, I am also aware that for probably the first time since I've had the car, I left the face off IN the fooking car. Stupid I know, but was rushing about last night prior to going out so it just slipped my mind.

Well, I now have the new glass in, and on the search for a new stereo.

A word of warning people, make sure you take everything out of your car. All it takes is for you to leave it in once, as I did.

But I can assure you, I will NOT be owning this car for much longer.

Gutted for you mate I know what you mean about rushing around, theres been a few times when I've thought "it'll be ok" but then at the last minute taken the face off, goes to show that "that once" is all the chance they need. Shame all this trouble is putting you off the car too

Thanks for all the kind words people.

But just make sure you all learn from my bad luck. This is the first time any of my cars has been broken into, and as said, it just takes that once to leave it in and them to rob it.

On the plus side, we have an idea who it may be, so once we find out where he's hiding out, me and a couple of mates are going to beat the shit out of him I do not condone this kind of behaviour, but I take this as a personal attack and will be retaliating

tell you want ive been thinkin bout recently is, on any electrical component i buy for my car is take it apart, swap the + for -, and - for + inside the units connector, and the same on the wiring loom for the car.
..this:
- identifies this WAS your old unit
- blows a fuse / the unit when it is put in a car with "normal" wiring.
- gives you peace of mind it wont be re-used.
