got the car back from the bodyshop this evening
pics arnt the best as its on camera phone and the cars a bit dusty aswell
the colour match is pritty good for silver
once its all done i will give it a good detail (clay and machine polish)

any the body shop have put a shed load of waxoyle down there aswell for good measure

i dont know if this is too late saying this but i believe ( 90% sure ) i have a thermostat housing if you still need one ? love the xr2 though :thumbsup: still miss my one :doh:

first of a couple of updates for this weekend
just put the larger engine parts through the parts washer before the rebuild this weekend

not long finished down the motorclub for the night

ive got the block and sump painted

started rebuilding the head aswell
got all the valves in place

the tappets are marinading in 10w 40 for the night and therocer arms are having a soak in white spirit to clean off the gunk

been a busy day today
started to rebuld the engine
first thing todo was finish off the head
washed all the rockers and springs and fitted new rocker nuts

then started on the block
first off i fitted the oil breather valve then the main bearingsand crank and as you will see the common theam of washing all parts before they were installed

main caps installed

spot the difference
std big end bolts vs arp bolts

fitting the pistons rook alot long than i thought gettin gthem to fit was a pain in the tits

all the big ends installed with arp bolts and hd bearings

then on with the oil pump and water pump

and crank seal

bottom end pritty much done

just placed the head on for now till i sort the timing out

update for today is that ive been spending lots of money

ordered silicone hose kit

new clutch

gearbox mounts

rotor arm and set of head studs

i wanna try and get all the bits together first as i dont want to be rushing around trying to find parts at the last minute

had a bit of a set back today
started to clean the engine bay down so i could install the engine this weekend and ive found some more rust hiding under the header tank
i also took out the little arch liner between the wing (didnt even notice it before) and ive found a very large rust hole near the base of the window frame
so basically its gonna have to go back down the body shop and have the wing removed and the rot sorted
so thats basically buggered up my time schedule and i very much doubt it will be at combe in july
so ive now set a deadline of ford fair which should give me more than enough time to get it sorted i hope

little update not really done much this week as tbf i couldnt be bothered
what i have done though is fit the the gear box up
its got a rs turbo clutch and you may notice the different shape bushes on the gearbox mounts.
well i couldnt afford vibratecnics ones so i did a little digging and ive found that mk2 rs2000 engine mounts fit perfectly and they are uprated ones aswell so i shouldnt have a issue with them and they were alot cheaper than the vibratecnics ones £30 posted compared to £100
also removed the master cylinder and servo in prep to fit the larger mondeo one.
good thing i did really as i split the fiesta one down and the brake fluid literaly poured out of the servo so god knows how it ever stopped with it
