Paul dropped it off about 12 30 ish, by half 3 i had the gearbox off, alternator off, inlet manifold off, injector rail and throttle body off, remains off the downpipe off etc.





Tommorow i need to get the exhaust manifold off, an begin cleaning the block up, then start rebuilding it ready for the Si.

First thing i think ill do is wait till i get my crane, then i get the cambelt and water pump done, then fit new alternator, starter etc, im going to use a escort 1.8 Si gearbox, thats if the starter motor is on the front and not on the back? Does it need to be on front or back on the zetec engines?

Also what is this EGR system, ive removed it from the exhaust manifold and i know you can get blanking plugs but is it worth leaving it off as someone once said it makes the exhaust note raspy and it uses more fuel ?

If im using the 1.8 Escort box, do i need a 1.8 flywheel and clutch?

Bit of a difference hey?

Block is all painted, need to wait for engine crane to arrive and take it somewhere and get the cambelt done on it, and waterpump changed, really dont want to touch the cambelt as i don't have a clue how to do it? I was going to buy one of those cam locking tools that sits between the 2 pulleys and locks them while you do the belt but wasn't sure?

That orangey brown line on the picture is it supposed to be on there? Its kind of stickey stuff that kept ruining the wet and dry i used to get the old bits of gasket off? Thats the inlet side.

Getting there, just need to collect the rest of the bits

Block looks alot better painted, but I think I'd have painted it silver along with the sump, makes it look newer imo
