Now i'm sure i've seen a similar thread to this before but i've been looking for a while now and cant find it, the search feature is finding anything useful either.

So i will start my own;

Which tyres do you guys recommend??? Where do you recommned buying them???

normally i use mytyres.net (I have Star performer UHP's (unknown make but have been top quality for me) £44.60 per tyre, Eagle F1 GS-D3 £78.70, Proxes T1-R £62.40)
But i've looked at blackcircle.com (Proxes T1-R £56.10 per tyre, Proxes 4 £47.70, cheapest make (dont even give a brand) £41.78)

I know that a lot of people say you shouldn't scrimp on your tyres and i'd agree that and i would never buy remoulds or part worn but i've always believed that non-brand names are as good as brand names. I have to get 195/45/16 and only buy V tyres so cant see it being a problem, annoyingly i need a full set so even the cheapest set on mytyres is £178 and on blackcircles its £167.

when i last bought tyres i only needed 2 and they were 15's which apear to be an aweful lot cheaper than 16's

So any comments??

in 16's paradas only come in 205 and im struggling with rubbing on 205, which was why i'm going with 195's instead. dont really want to use spacers

Toyo TR1's are one of the best tyres I've had, especially in the wet

One of the worst I had was Yoko A539's, but a lot of people rate them. They just wouldn't grip in the wet on the Fiesta!

Nankang NS2's are great tyres for the money!

Really Des? Thats strange! lol.

Nankang do make some good tyres, there are a few good budget tyres out there! Another make I have used before are kumho, purely because my old garage was a distributor of them and i got them cheap, but they sure did grip very well and lasted for a while too!

I have star performer tyres on the focus and they are truly excellent tyres for the money.

Sticking with F1's on the C2

Another one I got on really well with were Hankook Ventus tyres. Not sure on the exact model, but they were similar tread pattern to the Proxes, they came on my Fox Evo 3's, and lasted a damn long time!

But I have to say, I really do rate the Nankang NS2's for the money. Pulsar has 4 of them on at the mo and they haven't let me down yet and I've been pushing the fekker hard on the twisties

budget is as low as possible really my main problem is that yeah i need a full set, cheapest i've seen is £167 but they dont even give a make and model, cheapest i was comfortable buying were the star performers (which i have on the car at the moment) at £178.

trouble is then you have to get the tyres fitted which is gonna be another £40 ish so either way i'm looking at around £200 at a minimum which is too much money that i could be spending elsewhere.

Well if you are happy with the star performers stay with them, I will almost certainly get them again for the focus. The do fair well in independent reviews and I think they are so cheap due to the lack of name premium tax rather than quality.

oh percy i can take that comment in 2 ways; 1, i'd stick with the same set if i could but i've got them on my momo 15's and want to get a set for my mondeo GTI 16's, 2, I would definately stick with them for quality and low price but i'm finding that as i require a full set its still quite a serious outlay :(

I think I'm simply gonna have to save up and suck it up and buy a full set in a few weeks. My 15's are still in excellent condition so will last for quite some time regardless of what i decide to do with them

This is the thread. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3678&start=140

I can't comment too much as all the performance tyres I've had haven't been on a Ford chassis/wheelbase.

Camskill were a shed load more for me.. But they could be cheaper on certain makes. I have a 5% discount code on blackcircles if you get some off there.

Must admit, when I bought some Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2's the other month, Blackcircles were the cheapest.

Oh and with camskill - cheap prices but they're online ordering service is NOT secure. :)
