Hey got a more door si 1.6 basically I bought it for 450 quid engine is on the way out and not willing to spend any more money on it but I want it low, is cutting my springs dangerous? Any advice or tips? How much can I lower it with rs2000 15" wheels with no spacers ( already rubs full lock ) cheers

Never cut springs.

Cut your springs if you want to force other people's insurance premiums up even more because you have a massive failure and crash.

Its not dodgy if the springs are parallel and its done properly. (and its only temporary! Shouldn't be long term reallly)

But its still not recommended especially when lowering ones are about £30.

Will my car go -60 with 15" wheels? It rubs at the moment (I know that's a spacing issuse) surely it can only get worse?

Mine was decked at 60mm with 15" wheels and it was fine. You just need to go easy on the passengers

mines 60mm lowered on 15s, but you ideally need 195 45 15 size tyres as 195 50 15 will rub more, i had the arch lips trimmed off just on the front

cut them, hit a bump, fuck your shocks, springs fall out, ditch :)

get some 60mm's on your standard shocks if your tight

ive cut springs before with no problems. wouldnt cut more than one coil off though.

i remember when i asked this when i first joined the site... people responses scared the shit out of me in terms of safety aspect and just general 'dont be such a fucking idiot' responses. and im glad i didnt lol, the guy who told me too who had a 96 escort did and his car just fell apart to put it simply.

find some cheap ass springs. sorted. and i have that set up, 5mm spaces on front sorts it. obviously right tyres too. nice lowish profile like 45's.

anddd i rolled the arches on the back and everything is cool! just make sure you heat the paint up on the arches.
