There was a big accident at Knockhill on Sunday at the scottish fiesta championships

Knockhill circuit has fitted new kerbs at some of the key corners on the circuit , and they are very high, and when i drove ther e 2 weeks ago, i was concerned they could easily flip a car over especially going through the John R wier ( Glenvarigill) chicane, which is a very quick 4th gear series of twists . well heres what happens when you get it wrong going into the corner , and hit the kerbs

Here are some pictures i found of the crash on Sunday

And one of my mate John (IMSY) in the saloon car race, hes running 9th in the photo, finished 8th overall in the first race , and DNF in the 2nd after hitting one of the high kerbs and jumping into the air, and breaking a driveshaft

yep driver OK, just got out the car and dusted himself off, but Im sure he would have been sore on Monday morning

The Fiesta is driven on a hire basis through Ian Cowie Racing, and the guy who was driving will have to fit the bill to repair/replace the car , probably around 15-20 grand to build one of these cars, so he will be sore in the pockets too, double ouchhhhhhh!!

The kerbs are way to high , and hell knows what will happen when the touring cars and superbikes go there this year

The TV cameras where there recording all the racing, and its on Motors TV on Thursday nite at 7pm

Once my KA gets done I'll keep that in mind, because my rear beam + suspension will be that stiff I'd be doing the same no doubt!!

Jeeeeez. That really sucks. Track day insurance should be a necessity, and it the drive of it didn't have it I bet he wish he did now! I wouldn't know what to do with myself with a £20k bill for a car I don't own came along.

Ouchies, thats a bitch.

So are they going to keep the kerbs or make them smaller like they was before? Because although it makes it more of a challange ect, its going to be dangerous and cause alot of flipped cars. Superbikes should be ok, they will learn not to go so far into the apex and they will see the kerb too quicker, but even so, a little too close and they will high side easilly

Christ, thats pretty bad :o

Wonder why they raised the kerbs in the first place if it has caused this to happen :?

Knockhill is a very very quick circuit, and some of the bends are taken in 3 and 4th gear , and youve got to cut the corners quite a bit to keep that speed through the corners

I think Knockhill are trying to stop people doing this by fitting these high kerbs , so you must go round the corner as apposed to through it

If he wanted a MK7 Fiesta he should have bought one instead of trying to round the edges off this one. The last few pics have the front end starting to look like one.
