You would have wet patches in the footwells if it was bad enough, but I had one leak once and there were no wet patches, just a few drips that went onto the carpet when the heater was on which soon got lost so werent noticable

Small updated, any info or help would be appreciated on this...

Fitted the correct Rad this time. Everything seems fine, so visible leaks, fitted a new Fan switch (screws into bottom of rad) and a new Temp Gauge sender.

The gauge now works, i'm running around 'M' now, rather than cold all the time! My question is: My fan only kicks in when the gauge gets up to 'N' (near red)....I know 'according to the gauge' it's fine, but is it normal? I'm sure it used to kick in more like 'O'.....it's probably not an issue anyway...

Also, does anyone else's Aux Belt tensioner (not pulley) move a smide every now an then to adjust tension? Making a feint (sp) rattling noise? I concluded that it is fairly normal, but i'm not sure tbh....

Other than that the car's driving better than it ever has!! It's virtually new. The engine is spot on and v.v. quiet, i'd be an ideal time to sell but i just couldn't do it

Shame I gotta save a few grand till august because I could be cracking on with some mods now instead of fixing things...makes the thread less boring that way :lolz:

any info for above would be appreciated as always

i'm pretty sure my fan use to kick in around the "N" when i had my si, could it be maybe you think that its wrong is because the sender might of been reading slightly out so when you thought ti was at the "O" it was actually at the "N"?

on the tensioner side of things, i cant ever remember having to adjust mine, i was always under the impression it was a fit, tension and forget until it squeeks or breaks affair?

glad she's running alot better tho andy, it does help knowing the car is performing asit should and not having things to worry about

think i'm abit of a hypochondriac with my car lol...the second i hear a noise i query it...
Could well be right about the gauge, certainly seems viable...
It is an automatic tensioner and it whirrs a little when hot...but then it will stop, then start again...could be alternator related I guess, I had previously accused the auto-tensioner because it sometimes makes a little rattle...
Either way it's minor enough not to worry about at the min...isn't getting worse

The tensioner is spring loaded and so automatic

In terms of the fan, that is about where mine kicks in too :)

is the tensioner (not pulley, but silver metal piece attached to the block move a little back and forth every now an then?

Just another quick question;
I've noticed it appears to be slightly leaking onto the lower panel(i think) below the bottom rad hose. initially i accused the Lower Rad hose (which is new), I figured it needed tightening up, which i did.
The following week i noticed it was still leaking and spotted it 'weeping' from the Rad Fan Switch plug (which is also new, located near lower hose). This is a complete ARSE to get to, I had to removed the oil cooler bracket and squeeze a adjustable spanner in (25mm)... Having tightened a little didn't want to crack the plastic it was screwing into) i put it all back togeather.

Anyway, this week I have noticed it is still leaking. Are these meant to be done up REAAALLLYY tight? Or with PTFE tape? or something? Or is there a possiblity that because it's slightly overfull (2cm ish over MAX) that it's just finding the weakest place to leak from?

Cheers
Andy

I wouldnt want to do it up REALLY tight personally, as you say, it may crack. I personally would do it pretty tight, then another 1/8 of a turn perhaps, also stick some PTFE tape on there, just to see if it seals it up, if that doesnt cure it then I would suspect its the wrong one... thread could be slightly different causing a leak, but I cant see that being the case somehow, I would of thought 99% of fan switches was the same

As Danny said, PTFE tape is the best bet, wouldnt want to strip the thread doing it up too tight

Small update today...
Past few weeks I have been doing little jobs here and there.....

- Fixed rattling fan (didn't realise the bottom of the fan slots into a guide!!!)
- De-rusted inside of one arch....bit of a shoddy job but it will do till summer
- Fixed boot rattle!!!! Re-aligned the boot catch for this...
- De-rusted boot and hammerited it black (not a great job)...fitted boot carpets including turrets
- Re-tined rear lights pure red.....Technically has to be addressed still. looks good though :). Check my thread in 'Modifications'

Pics:

Rust:

More rust (i nearly cried!!)

Image

After some hammerite

Image

and again....Fitted the arch liner back on so its covered anyway. Mission was to remove rust and seal...

Image

Boot floor once painted...It was a rush job tbh, but atleast it's covered now with my carpet

Image

Lights

and again...

Also, update coming up soon...
I've bought some new wheels. They are SUPER rare, infact so rare I have never seen them before....16" Ford wheels made by Ronal. I think they may be European as they have a funny offset (ET46) which will be a fun task to address i'm sure!

Anyway, opinions appreciated...

Andy

errr think it's pinky/red....not too worried about that though, my previous lights (with reverse light tinted) passed MOT's... just gotta be careful in car parks!!
Cheers for comments, still no idea where these wheels came from...I was thinking a scorpio or something but i'm sure they are 5 stud..
