lol tuup

nah main reason to replace the water pump is the mondeo one wont work in a fiesta, flows the opposite way dont it, so its needed, shame though as the timings gotta be fucked about with, mays well even take the head off and do the headgasket etc

Yep you are right you need the fiesta one anyway, just a good move on a new one rather than used, you do know other fiesta parts are needed don't you (you didn't mention them).

ones i know of are, the dipstick, exhaust and inlet manifolds, sump, oil pick up, fiesta/escort oil filter (or that with a fiesta oil pump) and the water pump

i have all this at hand with my spare 1.6 engine, so its swap all the bits and plop the 2.0 in and bam, sorted

trying to decide whether its worth it now, a poster on Ft.com has made me wonder if theres much (if anything in it for me)

Well by definition the 2.0 should have a little more torque and bhp, but generally the 1.8 will rev a little easier.

I would do it if you got the bits on the cheap, I would say don't bother if it was costing a lot. the 1.8>2.0 jump is nowhere near as much as the 1.6>2.0 jump.

yea i got you

the guy wants £80 for a 80k~ 2.0 and the ecu from the same car with it

i mean for that im laughing

all them together is worth about £200!

tell ya what, ill get them fit the ecu (ive been wanting that for ages) see what its like with that better map

ill fit all the reletive bits tot he 2.0 so its ready for a fiesta, then ill decide

if i decide not to fit it, ill sell it onid sell for about £100 or so, keep the ecu and im already better off

or might keep it and SLOWLY make a Zetec turbo from it?

who knows

then ill replace the parts id have stolen from the 1.6 and that will be a spare again

(im trying to get my dad to convert his mk1 capri to a zetec, hes had enough of his carb its giving him poor starting/cold running)

Interesting, just to add another idea, if you plan a zetec turbo it might bw worth doing it to the 1.8 if you want a 'budget' turbo.

I say this as you can use the standard 1.8 pistons and a decomp plate (think thats good for 300bhp) where as the 2.0 pistons aren't upto it so its new pistons time.

By all means if you want true monster power 2.0 all the way, but the 1.8 can get you very far with a lot less money.

why not the 2.0 bottom end on the 1.8 head with the st170 gasket how would that match against 2.0 or the 1.8

plan is, get the 1.8 on a dyno
as well as set mine (and many others) mind to ease, will also prove if its as powerful as i suspect, or if its just me being new to it all

if its well off what i think, a 2.0 might be used, if its bang on target i see no reason to use a 2.0 :)

so ill get the ecu, then dyno it

got tipped for a fit today so thank you nice customer!

so bought this from the reduced stock :P
awesome mod, smells lovely :Q

That badboy must add 5bhp, saying that my black ice magic tree adds 6bhp!

By all means it seems all is correct on your 1.8 so it should be around 125-130bhp at a guess maybe a little more.

Sure you don't want to come a RR day, I say this as RR figures are more relevant if you run with other cars at the same time.

after the last shockingly poor update

heres a rather sizeable one! :D

mainly maintinance and upkeeping, but some well placed mods too :)

ok to start with, an anoying flashing airbag light on my dash wont go off, think my airbag is due replacing, according the the sticker ont he reverse, my passengers one best not need changing as they aint easy to get used, and wil be bloody expensive new!

so ive done the naughty and taken the bulb out, i want one of the sleeker looking airbags the earlier models come with, with no logos on it, but untill then

another was lately after spraying my servo, a ABS warning light has come on, and wont go off, now i removed my ABS when i fitted the 1800 engine, so why is it on?

to avoid looking poo without the light coming on when the handbrake is, i left the ABS sensor system in the car,, which is why it was on...

this little trigger was loose from the switch, so it was taped back up and hidden away once more
Image

Job 2 was i made myself an underbonnet 12v socket

using a spare cig lighter socket from previous cars
Image
Image
Image

im yet to find a blanking plug for this to keep water out of it, one saying "12v power socket" on it

next was this popped through the post after a delay in the postage
Image

i removed the kit from what appears to be a set of 2i dials
nice to have another spare set  glue on the dials though :(
Image

so in the Si
took mine off and fitted the kit to my clocks, saves explaining and remembering the mileage of the car, bad enough i gotta do it with the engine
Image

used sticky back pads
Image
Image

couldnt be easier to fit, theres only 2 wires to fit
the earth
Image
Image

the remote control
Image

before putting things back together, thought it was about time i made the remote central locking light have a proper home, not just let it hang out the key hole
Image
Image

done :D
Image

it works!, the other wire, the positive needed to be linked with the pin 13 of the multiplug that fits the back of the dials
Image
Image

short video of the accuracy of the speedo, believe it or not it was bang on, seems ive corrected speedo error too, used to be about a mph out, notice the speed checker on the lamp post saying 30

night picture, i like it set to blue, but can also be on turquoise , and any brightness setting from barely on to bright which it is now
Image

a performance mod
Image
Image

a trip to Bridgend ford after work, saw me a set of wishbone bolts
Image
Image

today i set about swapping the ECU's over

BLOB mk1 mondeo 1.8 one out
Image
Image

DEEP mk1 mondeo 2.0 one in, simple reasons to them who are wondering, the 2.0 is a higher displacement, thus requires more fuel, which has an effect of a higher fuel ratio on a 1.8, producing more power, its similar to the RS1800 map

took it for a spin after refitting my 2.0 MAF sensor, goes much better i noticed quickly, just more power over the whole rev range :chill:

best £20 ive spend in regards to power (it was the deposit i left on the Xr2i, which i got back for returning the car)

idles better also, sorted part of the hunting issue ive had for ages

another thing i done today was paint the bonnet vents satin black, gloss didnt suit it at all
Image

the finished result further down

then i got stuck in with the lower arms armed with an impact socket, as in my last attempt a few weeks ago the bolt started rounding and i call it a day

so up she went
Image

the inventory
Image

one worn pattern arm, drivers
the bushes were fine considering, but it almost failed my mot on the balljoint
Image

with a truely knackered boot!, the balljoint was stiff to move, but it has vertical movement, so allowed the suspension to move up and down, thats a no no
Image

Image
Image
Image

the essentials
Image

and fitted with the new bolts/nuts, thanks to my otherhalf for assisting with
Image
Image

gave the calipers a buff while the wheels were off too

and the vents back in
Image
Image
Image
Image

muuuch better :chill:

and a small video of the better idle, its still not perfect but an improvement, hopefully it will settle over a few runs in it

this is a speed run up some quite deserted road, so if your going to moan after seing it i suggest you dont click this (this was filmed before the 2.0 ecu

got a mk2 Mondeo brake servo on the way during next week, and a brand new genuine mk3 interior electric mirror panel, ive been without for months

and hopefully some intensive G3 paint renovation going on after payday, watch this... :chill:

all for now

Where did you get them dials from? I want them lol.
would you say they are easy to fit?

Also wouldnt mind knowing how good that G3 stuff is as my paint has been in the woods during its life lol.

Cars looking sweet

Plasma dials always look great, I have gone star trek these days so can't use them.

I was running a DEEP ECU on my fiesta and it worked great for me.
