i understand completely

only the point in trying to make (without evidence on paper i know) that its more powerful than the average 1.8, or else id not keep up with these more powerful cars

130bhp id be delighted with, but a good few of them try to make me believe that its not that powerful even with all the relative parts, and they aint referring to age power loss etc

that cupra thing, a fiesta is widely known to weigh less than a ton (around 925kgs i beleive even with the zetec in it) the power gets amplified a bit, so it could be a p-w-r of around 140, the ibiza cupra has 154bhp but weights well over 1100kgs, making it have a p-w-r of around 135bhp, thats how i was able to keep up with it.

same thing with that TDV8 range rover sport, they have around 350bhp (or was that the petrol version?) and he was trailing behind

ANYWAY untill i can dyno it no one will take me seriously as you said

Yeah power to weight does play a big factor. But the other main one is torque. Without that you wouldnt go anywhere. Thats what I hate about people who just bang on about bhp figures and dont give a toss about torque figures (mainly because people dont understand it). What also annoys me is people who go by engine bhp rather than wheel bhp too. Its like saying my car has 1million bhp at the flywheel, but only puts down 90 of them on the road lol. Oh well, who cares, thats all i can say

But don't forget you can make up for a lack or torque with more revs, the theory does actually work. Will have to find the article about it all was a good read.

Yeah you can indeed. Its like driving any car to get the most out of it, a lot of the time with most cars its best to change just before the redline, not when the power has peaked, because say the most power is at 5500rpm (which is is around on a standard zetec engine) and you change gear, it will drop to lets say 3000 rpm in the next gear, now if you change at say 7000k which is just before the limiter at 7200, your revs will only drop to say 4500, therefor giving you overall better acceleration because your on the power quicker and you have the torque there too where the engine is spinning faster at that point rather than at 3000 rpm.

On the subject of rev limiters, i love how on most forums people are scared to go to the limiter or near it... does make me laugh. The idea of it being there is to limit the engine from over revving and causing damage, not just because its reached its maximum limit of revolutions per minute. Ford engines arent the revviest lumps out there compared to most, but they can easily push out 8500 rpm is correctly balanced and looked after... looking after engines... well thats where people go wrong. Thats why a lot of engines go pop when they take it to the limit every now and then, because they have been poorly maintained.

We should really start another topic for this, instead of spamming this thread lol.

I bounce off my limiter for fun, it does depend very much on the car but it is true you should consider where the change drops you too, in the C2 there is no about it its right to the limiter.

Was funny at the last northern meet, you had Ash getting his ST to pop and bang, my reply was a good few seconds on the limiter.

done some minor work today

mainly cleaning up, the rocker cover will need a respray, its flaked and not looking very good, ill stick to heat resistant paint from here on, such as hammerite
Image

also int he middle of cleaning using carb cleaner and a rag, i worked on the dirty areas and it worked quite well, but evaporates a bit quick
Image

the powersteering reservoir was stinking before, look at it now :Q pleased with that
Image
Image

then fitted my RS turbo under bonnet soundproofing, a nice touch and apparently rare in this form
Image
Image

i also sprayed my brake servo and batter cover satin black, looks better by far :aviator:

will give the car a wash tomorrow, the interior was well hoovered earlier also

all for now

Put the ballast box for the HID's behind the power steering resevoir. It fits in snug behind there.

I think this is the only pic I have where you can see it.

Good fine on the bonnet sound proofing.

Shame about the cam cover, you thought about powder coating will be fine with the heat.

Just a thought but have you considered changing the induction pipe to the K&N pipe (or similar), will flow better.

All Clark will tell you is that there was no insulation for the RS turbo bonnet.

I can show you?

Oooo, where'd you get the gear knob from?

I'd love one in the same square design wrapped in leather with a top the same colour as my car! :D

after over a weeks wages ontop this month thanks to overtime, i can afford something special

ive sourced a 2.0 engine along with a ECU for a VERY good price, its too good to pass up

i can earn some of it back selling the cams from the 1.8 and eventually selling the 1.8 engine itself, my mate matt wants the cams for his GTI

he keeps telling me, he wants his gti as fast as my Si, so hes eager for the 130spec bits

will be having it dropped off here end of the month, ill buy a water pump, fiesta one ofcourse, do the oil and fiesta/escort filter and then pop it in the Si

might wait and do all the gaskets first though, ive found a cheap gasket set so makes sence, might be a month or so yet, before fitp hopefully

and can finally see what the 2.0 fuss is all about :P

Sounds like a good plan, good move on replacing the water pump while you are there, easy change while the engine is out.

Should be able to match a modded Saxo VTS then :teehheee:
