Only a small update, Changed smashed n/s fog light and managed to get a pair of cabriolet mirrors which are rare as fook as they are specific for the cabriolet and standard MK1 punto mirrors wont fit. Only thing is there green so it now looks like SHREK, so ill sand them down and get them sprayed nero black. Fitted some Bosch super 4 plugs and Bosch Aero wipers.



BEFORE: Looking at the engine, its going to be kept simple with Airbox out and K&N fitted.





AFTER: Just degreased and clean all the plastic, hammerite black the ECU, master cylinder and battery tray, black high heat temp paint on the manifold heat shield. Just need a black battery cover surround, and cable tie back the headlight wiring.

Won some alloys on ebay. 17x7 4x100 ET35. Maybe refurb and powder coat them white.

Fitted the 17" Masitaly Alloys. Tyres need some air to give the correct balance but all need replacing anyway so not really that bothered.
Needs lowering at the front, might leave the backs as they are......undecided yet. Also bodykit which is a basic splitter\extension to front and rear bumpers and chunky sideskirts.

Now, we got it out the car port for a better look (updated photos a few posts back) the wheels do look too big, if it still looks odd after its been lowered then we will get rid of them and go for 16" rims with 195/45/R16 tyres to keep same wheel\tyre ratio as the original wheels.

checking this over today i think the head gasket might be on its way out. Theres some mayo around the oil cap and theres a good amount of white smoke coming out the exhaust even after the engines warmed up, this all might be linked to the fact it done 100 miles on £30 of petrol and it had no anti-freeze in it although it was leaking from the radiator (now replaced) and its not blowing hot air in to the car from the dash vents, its a right dog of a car, but bit by bit will get it all changed. Next plans are a set of Magnecor HT leads, Bosch Lambda sensor, 35mm spax springs with new wishbones and maybe CV gaitors while iam in the area depending on there condition, along with some refurb GT calipers with bigger vented discs and ditch the solid smaller ones, then new windscreen as it has various cracks and scratches from old wiper blades, 4 new 17" tyres and a new electric hood. Its really not worth any of the money thats gonna be spent on it, but these are very rare now so will be nice to have a semi-restored one still out and about. At least the body work is pretty good with minimal rust, dents and scratches.
