i spoke to fiestasiphil at sixfields about fitting a second boot light. how easy is it and how do i do it?

second is the rattling of the boot whilst driving. i remember aggggggeeeessss ago seeing someone bringing it up and saying you can put masking tape on the contact plate where it turns the boot light on and off, and that stops it?

The squeek can be fixed by putting a fair emount of electrical tape around the catcher for the boot catch.

And if you go to a scrappy and take the boot light out of any ford and chase the cable back as far as you can go, you put one wire to a permanent live and the other to the boot switch.. or if your cable is long enough you can tap into the existing light.

yea the boot lights are pretty rubbish imo doubt fitting 2 will make much difference

well i have a bright white light in, makes a massive difference, having two will be even better and its not like i have to do much. cheers mole, will get both sorted.

and by catch mole, do you mean where it closes shut etc?

I'd wire the new light to the existing one.

And for the rattling, dont bodge it with tape

Get a T55 or whatever it is torx bit, undo the catch bolts a little, move the catch down and bolt it back up, close the boot to make sure it shuts. Job done. Trust me, my old aubergene fiesta boot rattled for a long time before I did this and it sorted it and was quiet as a mouse after.

Yeah i did that too danny, my car already had electrical tape on it, i took it off, moved the catch down and that did solve it for a bit. However i really needed to slam the boot to make it shut!
So i went back to normal catch position and raped it with tape, and it's quiet and now shuts fine lol.

yeah i thought that might be easier to wire it straight from the light! will get on that when i have the time and have the part!

Move the catch upwards a little then Adam lol. Might only be a mm, but that mm stops the use of tape being used lol.

I know, but if you use black leccy tape and do it tight enough it looks standard, almost like a bushing or something

yep dannys right. bit odd that is! tried moving the boot latch around... however i moved the bar which the latch attaches too, does it need to be the actual latch on the boot lid that needs to be adjusted?
