bleeding can be a bitch, i cant remember a time where its gone straight forward and ive usually ended up doing each corner more than once

changing all the brake lines is a bitch, tedious and time consuming as it shard to trace them all through the floor pan and the engine bay, doubled if your making the lines yourself, the bending and coping the layout would take hours, days even

but the four flexies isnt too bad, bleeding or knackered threads is the worst of it

Are the green stuff good? I just remember someone saying they fall sort or something, but they. Seem popular. Standard discs? Or do you have to yet aftermarket drilled and grooved ones?
Shawspeed ss4's. £480 new. But someones selling a new pair for £450 ATM. I only have £100 and a £200 download ticket to pay for.. lol
Waiting for pay day to see if I can get them.

green stuff are the worst if u push your car in any way, they put wayy too much paint on so u have to file it off to get them to fit right, the paint bubbles when the brakes get too hot, they fade wayy to easy, the friction material cracks, ther rubbish for brake dust unless u drive like an old man.
the ebc dics are alright tho so u could get sum of them and ferodo pads

hmmm well i found the green stuff pads n ebc discs really good and i didnt drive like an old man.. but agreed track use is not for green stuff ;) i know someone with such agressive brakes they spark on use and coats the car in a thick layer of brake dust but i guess you dont need extreme stuff lol ill try find out what they are though. try black diamond or find ones you like and try them :) could always upgrade to something standard but bigger ???? as for the cams £450 !! you could do a puma conversion for that and get the same gains. VCT ftw !! :halo: but up to you really as cams would mean a set up etc

Just get some mintex pads if you dont want to spend out loads on other stuff stuff. Mintex do some of the best standard pads you can get. Also do fast road pads too which are good. I've used mintex before and would recommend them all day long.

BUT, its all to do with what driving style you have too. Thats one of the biggest factors when buying discs & pads.

As for the EBC green stuff, I have never had or noticed any problems with set I have fitted to a car. But mine have all been bought from EBC's website and not the crap you get in halfords... the ones you get from halfords are generally the crap bulk of pads, which is why they sell them cheap too. Even has a quote about that on their website somewhere im 99% sure of it.

But its upto you Chris. At the end of the day, buy for your driving style but dont just buy cheap knock off ebay £10 pads or discs either

it will cost you less to drop a puma lump in there and get it to 140bhp than it would to buy cams and a chip ;)
mondeo brakes ftw

It would not! It'll cost about £600 for all the bits brand new, 140bhp.

Puma is anywhere betwen £300-500 and then I've got to get it from 123bhp to 140bhp.
I'd rather stick with my engine as its low mileage, and save the faff.

Well on the road I just drive normally :frown:
But when I take it on the track i'll be giving it hell, maybe I should go for the ST170 set up? is that the one thats a direct boly on.. Hmmm So many choices.

Not sure about ST170 being direct bolt on, but I know ST150 is.

Either way, getting bigger brakes, you will need discs and pads eventually lol.

Well for road use, get some decent normal pads. Mintex as I say, would be a good choice. The garages I have worked in have used alot of mintex pads before, I have used them too. But different garages use different pads.

For track use, I would possibly change the discs and pads all together - making sure they are bedded in properly of course. Depends how much you want to track it though. If its just the one 15min session though, a good set of pads (either already put on or changed for the track day) with say some decend drilled and slotted discs which you have on there already should be good enough.

Now i'm even more confused, so my standard disc and some mintex pads would be enough for a few track sessions a year??

coupled with the braided lines and the fluid?

ST150 are a direct bolt on but the ST170 isnt iirc, also the st170 are 300mm discs so will need to go under 16's unless you grind a shit load off the top of the caliper
