So today I was planning on fitting my new gearbox mounts but as im very inexperienced in mechanics I just want some advice like where do I support the engine, I was thinking under the sump? Anything else I should know?

I do plan to do it today but depends if I pussy out due to the cold lol.

id use a jack n support it under the box as thats what gonna drop
less load on the jack then as its got more pivot

Will do, it'll have to wait until next weekend now, iv just swapped headlights round on the corsa coz its got its MOT tomorrow and the angel headlights where aiming pretty high and had a bulb out.

Also why im waiting until next week is because I dont start it and have no jump leads so hopefully get a battery this week.

While I was outside I had one of my neighbours offer me an engine hoist to borrow so that could be useful in the future.

im on the hunt for an engine hoist
get a 2litre put in urs or even a 1.8 from an escort gti/si
make a world of difference

2.0 I think, if im gonna do it might aswel get the best.

the 1.8 would be quick with the 130 spec bits

Yeah but I was thinkin 2.0 then some fast road cams,
Wont a 2.0 have more torque than a 130 spec 1.8

Yeah it'll have more torque. The 130 spec 1.8's aint that bad to be fair, quite good at the top end of the rev range from what I have heard
