As above does anyone have any info on doing a 1.8 conversion, I have the 1.8, will be using an aftermarket ecu, focus inlet, not sure about the injectors but won't be from the 1.6 or the 1.8, that just about covers everything that is needed from the 2l in a 2l conversion so is there anything else I need to consider for the 1.8?

Alternator? Engine mounts? Any little things that are just a normal nightmare on conversions?

Any help or points in the right direction are gratefully received but dont say do 2l conversion

Its exactly the same as a 2 litre conversion from what I can think of, sump might not need changing though. With the 1.8, if its from an escort I think the alternator and power steering brackets are different to a 1.6 Si engine, might be the same as a 2 litre, I cant remember what the guide says about all that. But just take the same steps as the 2 litre conversion and you will be alright.

Can i ask what management you will be using?

Megasquirt or omex depending on how flush I feel  No most likely the megasquirt.

I have bigger plans for this and I've been told by a couple of our resident experts that the 1.8L will be a better drive than the 2L. I'd rather have the 1.8 driving well with slightly less power than the 2L which drives more awkwardly. And as Danny says the engine is already mine so isn't costing me anything

And your reason for using megasquirt? Sorry for asking, its just im used to using megasquirt and megajolt on kit cars so just wondering why you'd want to use it when you can get a generic loom and ecu.

I can understand if you wanted to use it for its fine tuning capabilities, then yeah thats spot on for a reason to use it. As you said you have big plans for it, which will save you time and money in the long run too.

Fancy shedding some light on the plans or is it top secret? :)

Nah I like the thought of a turbo fiesta and I've already started sourcing bits and figuring it out in my head. I don't need anymore issues to confuse me even more  Cost wise it's about the same I think but there's loads of info on the turbo, I have no idea about superchargers

iirc erst manifolds are good for 300bhp ish!

are you sure the 2.0 focus inlet is going to be able to deal with boost?

done this conversion last sunday so its fresh in me head. i used all brackets from the 1.6 inlet is the same in both along with rail 2. i used the 1.6 gear box 2 as the 1.8 box had starter at rear insted of at the front. the only problem was the tight fit. would say do not take it from the top!! would of been much easer 2 drop out bottom! as for turbo converion the standered inlet is more than caperble of handling it seen it done before will also need low comp pistons to run decent boost m8. or two head gaskt but is a bit of a bodge.

180-200? You could neary get that from a throttle body or carb setup with piper cams, decent exhaust system (4-2-1 manifold and decat), bit of head work, some lightening and balancing and a different flywheel. Trust me, ive seen it done lol.

You say stock inlet? From what engine? Either way, should be more than capable.

Well at first I thought it was the focus rs's but it was talking about the plastic inlet which is the one on the standard focus. I didnt think the rs had a plastic inlet. Yeah I know that a good set of tb's or a carb could get that high but cost wise setting up a good system will cost similar to the zt and once the major work is done going from n/a to turbo it could be updated with forged pistons and a few choice mods to take it up to 250-300 which tbs couldn't
