its not my fault on the powder coat front. FFS not a yellow cam cover....saturday discussion needed remind me i have some awesome metal polish ill clean it up and youll love it again (i use it on the harley) ill bring it over

Oooooo we should all go to the new forest one time then when our cars are on the road!!! Powder coating ftw though! I would powdercoat stuff, but its just costly Worth it in the long run of course though!

And Jam, ermmmmm dunno, just one on youtube lol. I think its probably clean, not sure.

update here

well on saturday my mate took the cylinder head



cylinder 1 failed on the head gasket explains the water being burnt off



also drained and took the sump off, when the sump plug was undone water came out first then the oil
which was all brown and mushy


with the sump off it needed a massive clean as it was soo gunky and sludgy, also going to take the pick up pipe off and clean that at the weekend

and while it was off i decided prefect time to give it a freshen up

also bought some stainless steel bolts and washers for the sump



also jam took the pas rack off and its now gone down the tip!



just the front anti roll bar left now



also painted the exhaust manifold, im not sure if it will last but i used heat proof paint for up to 500 degrees but not to bothered about it



also painted the throttle bodie as i real liked how dans came up so thought i gotta give it a go i would have had it polished to go with the rest of the engine bay but i can't afford it, but this way cleans it up nicely



thats it for now, but at the weekend the steering should be pretty much manual

Getting there Phil! Throttle body came up alright didnt it! What paint did you use on your manifold? Halfords stuff? Only reason I ask is because I have heard bad reviews about their head resistant paint, apparently it just cracks, peels or burns off. Never know, you might get lucky!

Have fun cleaning the internals up! Made a bit of a mess didnt it!

You bought some ARB poly bushes didnt you? So why dont I see them fitted? lol

Good work phil It looks nasty in there mine is probably similar when we get it out

I have used the same paint as you mate so keep an eye on my thread and ill see how long that halfords paint lasts lol, as you said zetecs run hotter than the other engines, so will be interesting

its nice seeing abit of factory lookin silver under a bonnet
