So, my track/race car is in production now! Its all stripped out with sound deadening removed etc and 6 point cage fitted. The plan initially was to fit the 2.0 Mondino zetec engine but I have bought a donor RS1800 that has a few nice bits on it that I will use on my track beast (check parts for sale soon as this car is getting broken). it has genuine low milage so transplanting the RS1800 lump for the time being is what I am going to do and then build myself a proper 2.0ltr at a later date when funds allow.

The question is, has anybody used this engine along with the standard RS1800 ECU? And if so, what do I have to do. I know the common way is to plug and play with the DEEP/DESK/DEWY Moneo ECU and I have previously had the 1.8 130ps running great with this along with 2.0 injectors but again, seeing as I have a whole car to get all necessary bits from, I wondered whether using the standard ECU would be the cheaper/better option!

you need the late rs1800 ecu, which has internal pats, i think happypaul knows it

you can use the early non pats ecu but you need to swap over the si engine bay loom to the rs external edis loom as on the later ones the edis was internal in the ecu i think
i did it on the si track car i was building

So it should be as simple as just taking the loom of the RS1800 and fitting it to the Si? Is the loom just plug and play? What is the 4 letter code for the later RS1800 ECU? Can anyone confirm that this ECU will work with the Si loom? or maybe a Mk5 XR3i ECU?

Glad someone else has a CULT ECU with an Si loom, got one waiting to go with an RS 1800 engine soon

I was running a CULT ecu on my SI loom until i fitted megasquirt.

Now i have a couple spare superchipped CULT ecu's sitting in my box of spares not sure if they are gaining or decreasing in value lol.

CULT ecu is Internal EDIS External PATS
