well i took a new loan out which cleared this and Credit Card

so mum and dad can give me chunks of the money they owe me for this rather then the lump required for finance

they can now give me £200 a month towards the car which i can use to pay off the loan quicker

that makes more sense, 1 word of advice. Don't overpay on the loan.

In short if you overpay a loan you just shorten the term and not the interest, where as put the overpayments in a savings account earn a small amount of interest and when the savings catch up with the loan settlement figure clear the loan as the can only charge 60 days interst at that point.

If you are with the halifax get an ISA at 2.8% (3% if you oay more than £1000 a month in).
