I love the FWD characteristics of the car, a bit of light oversteer into the corners at speed get the juices goin :thumbsup:

thats why im making the suspension harder, get more feel at the front of the car, less understeer, and a little harder at the back for that oversteer round corners, keep me on my toes

the 4 wd system from the mondeo/ 4x4 RS2k has been done before on a Mk3 fez,remember reading it years ago, and AVA turbos in Glasgow have a customer project car with 2.1 zetec turbo 4x4 in a Mk4 Escort RST, , but they are concerned how soft the transmission is, so are running on lowish boost

Ive got my Escort Cosworth anyways for taht 4wd driving n country roads, but aint as exciting as the Fiesta when driven quickly

Ill have a wee break from the car for a week, get xmas out the way , and start again

right time to get this project back on track and finished, want it completed by the end of February if not before

I stripped all the front suspension off the car this morning, and getting some parts powdercoated , give it a proper freshen up

front track control arms and mountings to the car, gearbox cradle , and mount brackets, front and rear strutbraces and strut top mounts, hopefully get them dropped off today if wee Adie would answer his phone

Plan is to work on the car every nite this week, befor i go down to the Autosport show on Saturday, see if i can get the gearbox built and sump on the engine and fitted in the bay if im real lucky, get the new springs fitted onto the LEDAS

Hope to get some bargains at Autosport, ive got a wee list of bits to buy

small update guys, managed to get some bits and pieces at Autosport, but i dint think it was as busy with traders as previous years, but got some deals

managed to eventually strip down the gearbox to rpair it, and its pretty mullered, its totally destroyed the lay shaft bearing, and wiped out the quaife layshft ,and pinion gear, as well as destroying the gearbox casing

quaife wanted just under Â£700 for a new shaft and final drive set, but ive manged to pick up a set second hand , thats like new with a final drive of 4.4:1 which may be better for the more powerful engine

ive also managed to repair the damaged shaft by having it sleeved so taht i have a spare , just incase something like this happens again, but ill probably replace the front layshft bearing every 6 months now to protect the gearset, dont want a Â£15 bearing taking out the Â£1500 gearset :insanity:

Ive not mnaged to get much done to the car over the past week, but ill have the box finished and built back up tomorrow, and the aprts back from the powdercoaters over the weekend

ill update with pics on Monday

box is now fully assembled , cleaned through the chemical wash at my work, and all painted silver, its a showpiece

pick all the podercoated bits up tomorrow morning, and ill try and get the engine and box , front suspension built up on the car monday /tuesday
