yup which is where they get thier unreliable rep from

shame really, because if they are looked after they will be fine! they are 20years + old now so some issues are to be expected, you dont buy one expecting it to run act like a new car

yeah exactly, if you let them warm up and down properly then they shouldbe fine

At the end of the day its all down to how it has been driven in the past and how you drive it personally.

They arnt unreliable if they have been and if they are looked after properly

Snap, only reason why Honda engines fail is due to owners not realising that oil is used as part of it's normal high revving operation and it needs to be kept on check! Same with Mazda Wankel engines, people don't realise how they operate - "All Mazda-made Wankel rotaries, including the new Renesis found in the RX-8, burn a small quantity of oil by design; it is metered into the combustion chamber to preserve the apex seals".

People's ignorance is the first and final nail in the coffin with any of the old skool RS engines!

Cvh's in general use alot of oil dont they?

depends how you look after them mate,
regular services and stem seal maintenace and should be ok

same as my xr3i, never used one iota of oil
