f*cking car is driving me up the wall.
Can anyone help with the following issue before i go outside and through a brick at it :banghead:

Having a veerrrry minor running issue (revs drop very quickly and dip to 600rpm when clutch & brake go in at a roundabout (as an example). the ISCV is working (brand new Ford), the car never stalls....sometimes when you put your foot on the accelerator while the revs are dipping it takes ages to respond (for revs to stop dipping and starting inclining). This is slightly annoying. Plus it's not as smooth as i'd like between gear changes (because of this).

anyway, i bought a brand new £18 ebay TPS to fit. figured it can't hurt. How wrong i was....
so basically i did the following:

1) Unplug plug
2) undo retaining torx bolts
3) withdraw TPS
3.5) roughly measure old TPS with new one - make sure you have bought the correct item
4) get new TPS
5) line up the torx bolts in the TPS and mate to TB housing
6) screw in evenly
7) continue until TPS has mated throttle spindle
8) plug in plug
9) take car on quick journey to test

on the test (2x 20min journeys to courier depot) the throttle was stiff. like really stiff. it also stuck, so idling slightly high.
if you put your foot down to 5/6k it would stick on.
eventually after my first 20min stint it had loosen quite considerabley and was atleast driveable. idling at 1k to 1.1k ish, barely any sticking, slight smell of burning plastic under the bonnet

at this stage i had no tools and had to return home.
By the time i got home it was barely sticking (if at all). when you FULLY press the accelerator at say 1.5k in 5th gear (i.e. boot it in a high gear, low revs) it did start to majorly hesitate.

so whats happened, can anyone explain.

if no-one can explain please buy it off me ffs i've had enough

any help appreciated
cheers

andy dude!!!

pm me your address i'll post a spare ford tps to you tomorrow! dont give up!

you 100% sure its the tps though? as mine did a very similar thing and it turned out it was the lambda sensor!

have you thought about going to a garage and get them to stick a diagnostics machine on it?

i have a box of spares sensors! i'll send them all up for you to try if you want?

Onslack - PM'd thanks
ango, was thinking about checking for an airleak, but it does very rarely over-rev...it's usually just dipping? (it may over-rev at the minute due to the new TPS i've fitted ballsing up).

interesting point about a blockage. my breather was heaving oil out of it, so i fitted an upright breather filter...
wonder if the crank breather could be blocked?

have you got a multi meter? if so easy check on TPS is measure resistance of it and watch rise and fall when you operate the throttle butterfly, between outer to middle terminal on TPS should rise and fall between roughly 4kohm and 0.5kohm from throttle closed to fully open if you then go other outer connection to middle again it will resistance will swing in opposite direction roughly the same amount +-0.5kohm ish.
as for throttle sticking take TPS off, check throttle movement is free, check TPS befor fitting and then when reassempled with throttle cable removed.
finally TPS sensor generally there for ignition andvance/retard when accelerating and acceleration fuel enrichment, other sensors could be lambda, MAF etc, etc

Lambda, MAF/MAP, Breather to Filter pipe, cat melted, coked cylinders and sparks. One or more of the above.
