I'm sure at 120mph plus when the short geared st is approaching top end the clio would pull away.

By all means if you know how to drive your ST the the 172 owner doesn't know how to drive a 172 then it could well happen.

Out of interest was it marginal or did you completely muller it? was it form a standing start?

I really don't want this to be an arguement as you may think, I am geniunely interested.

didn't muller it obviously, standing start down a dual carriageway off the lights. Upto around 90km/h

It may well be driver related, or 172's aren't all they are cracked up to be hence the 182

IT does me as to how people think it is so unbelieveable

a 172 should have a 0-60 of around 7 seconds, its a shame we can't confirm what the driver did.

As I say we don't know what happened with the other car, ie when me and Op had some fun I can be sure I represented the C2 properly and kept the revs up and of course his ST pulled away.

In basic terms if the 172 was slower off the mark and had bad/wrong time gear changes then it would make perfect sense, but as your ST seems to be running mighty fine I wouldn't completely discount that. Like I say it is a shame we can't be sure exactly what the other driver did.

There's hearsay that Phase 1 172's are as fast as phase 172 Cups! TBH ST's, 172's, 182's, gti-6's, DC2's, there all a much of muchness!

You need a turbo strapped on Adam! Extra power. Extra torque/MPG. Barp.

It is silly where they've placed the PAS pump. Makes you wonder what delights the Mk7 has in store for future buyers...
