~ Update ~

thought i'd give this a little update.....

i was cleaning the shed out over the weekend and i had to move my cossie's head out the way :lol:

alex was here and he was taking a look at the head while i fannied about, he found something pretty bad and, we are near on 100% sure it was the cause of my failure

after inspecting my head, we realised when it came to the time to rebuild it( if i was ever going to rebuild it) that we'd need to remove the cams as they had some surface rust on them!

but after closer inspection alex found my exhaust cam has snapped clean in through on cylinder 4, it explains the crack i heard when i came on boost, why it was running on 3, the sooty plug on cylinder 4!! :banghead: :banghead:

alex reckons as my big ends were pretty old and worn due to the age/mileage of the engine the sheer amount of pressure in the cylinder might have caused my big end to go!

glad we've found this now as if i decided to rebuild it i would of hated to rebuild the thing only to fin it was still not working properly!! :rolleyes:

yeah it was a good job we found it indeed, i didnt even think to look when we took the head off, everything looked perfectly fine... :cry:
