well, after my car got chipped i gave it a wash to see the damage in full effect:

nice scratches to wing


The whole bonnet looks like this


no area unscathed



this is only a small part, main areas are bonnet, drivers wing, door and rear quarter.



Des has made a suggestion which i shall look into, sounds good

still annoyed.

Gave it a good wax and it looks fairly good (until you get up close)

so today me and my mate Oj (also an oliver hence me being Op) went for a thrash up the berwyn mountains to waste petrol. good fun.



His is a 1.9 cdti sri. 150 bhp. 0-60 8.2 secs. good fun when you press the "sport button" and feel the throttle tighten, hold the button longer and the ABS and ESP turn off very nice car with bags of torque, begging for a re-map.

shame the interior is put together a bit flimsy.

iv been in one of them astra's, they are really nippy, makes you think twice about diesels.

heres one for andy -

so, last night my cockend mate decides hes gonna drink drive home was staying at mine but crept out at 5am to drive back to his yokel abode. he crashed.

so i went to pick him up and take him home at 6am (helen drove -sober)

this morning i drove him to get his broken vento:




went to get in my car, walked towards it *BANG* like a gun!

wtf? started it, drove it 10 ft, smoke noise etc.

jacked it up:



FFS!


see what appears to be a manufacturing defect in the metal? the funny coloured bit on the break. hmmmm


snapped spring. in the middle of nowhere. lucky it wasnt 10 minutes earlier when i was chucking it around the welsh twisties.


ive had to get a recovery truck tow - £40

got it to a closed garage where i hope it can be fixed tomorrow.

the alloy wheel has been scored on the inside and the tyre has been ate. just driving it a ft or two feels awful.

suprise suprise my warrenty doesnt cover it....

i hate this effin car.

if i had the money i'd get eibach springs all round. but i aint.


plans:

fix it.
check the oil again.
buy new tyres all round
paint the spoiler and bumper inserts gloss black or put ott stripes to hide scratches
ecu update to cure poor starting.

finance:

ive got it from evans halshaw ford with santander arrangment, can i sell the car? or do these loans stay tied to the vehicle?

i fancy a nice diesel zetec s.

friday afternoon car if i ever saw one.

It does seem the springs snapping is quite a common fault on the Mk6s.

i also think you need to clear finance before you sell

ffs, cause its the drivers side its had to have a new shocker aswell.

why?

cause ford made a stupid bracket that means water collects around the drivers side strut top so it looks like this:

the bolt has rotted meaning it was forced off. new strut.

i don't blame you on the hate thing, my blue one got like that......

whereas power steering whine aside this st is such a good car, people that go out on it are surprised by it, i've found the limits of it (paradas and pirellis have much different "give" points.....) and they way it loves to rev to 7200rpm yet have torque for low down driving is really good.

mine needs a bit of tlc but thats just servicing and the bloody power steering bottle
