As some of you may know just brought a 1.1 Fizza. When you get the magnifying glass out and find the engine lol when its running it bubbles around one of the ht leads where it plugs into the head and slightly bubbling on another, what could this be

if the car was sitting for a bit of time you got the car then it could just be a bit of moisture.

take the air filter off and pull out the plastic lad at the bottom comeing from the breather, theres a very small hole at the bottom of that, its blocked and the plastic coupling thing is filling up with water from the breather and theres your bubbeling, just clean the hole at the bottom so the water can escape down the pipe into the manifold. had the same problem

Back off holiday, to the 1.1 that i recently aquired. Getting my hands dirty i have taken a few pictures to help explain a bit better, this one i am worried about the hole at the bottom left of the airbox:

Image

This is where the air filter has been near the hole

Image

This is the top of the air box above the hole

Image

This is the offending spark plug

I'm going to be completely honest, i am a hobby mechanic and don't know alot so i was wondering if anyone else could shed light on what has happened with my air box, why it seems oily and blown holes in it. Dave i have tried to find the hole you were talking about but couldn't. Any help much appreciated.

One thing is for certain, your air box needs replacing.

Looks like something very hot has attack it form underneath.

You tried taking the spark plug out?

Holy shit!

Isn't that where a breather pipe normally connects to? Have a gander to see if there's a loose breather pipe dangling underneath. Has the thing been overfilled with oil by any chance?

ahhhhhh..this happens with KA's too...not to the same extent. as the airbox is in a different place.. clean the crud out from round the plugs..pipe brush..compressed air is the quickest. take the plug out and examine the thread..look for any damage to it..make sure also the plug is tight. compressive gasses are probably escaping and acting like a heat jet on the airbox. it will be something along those lines. if the threads are fecked then its going to be easier to get a head from a scrapper...theyre a doddle to change ;) theres nothing else up there that would cause that kind of damage to a plastic housing in that way.

Jam.
