i've heard lots of different things about what can fit into what.

i have heard that the 1.6 will fit a 2.0 mondy but a 1.4 won't, but it will fit the RS turbo.
but ive been told by a chap i know who's very good with his cars and has owned an si before told me the 1.4 will fit the mondy? i may have misunderstood him but could someone clear this up for me please? thanks, ben

its not that it wont fit bud
its jus the 1.6 is a silvertop and so is the 2.0 mondy lump so the engine mounts are bang on
in a 1.4 si the engine is a cvh so the engine mounts are there for an rs turbo lump as that is a cvh engine aswel

hope that cleared things up :thumbsup:

i think im right on the cvh part :hmm:

Yea the 1.4 is a cvh and the 1.6 a zetec. I suppose its just different engine so different size and shape but a 2.0 will go in the 1.4 just a bit more to fiddle with

so it will definetely work? i mean the guy is very good so i know he can sort it for me lol :P i guess it's onto buying the lump now! :D instead of having to look for a decent 1.6 (which lets be honest, id be waiting till next year!) cheers chaps, will be a task. do you guys know anyone on here who has done the 1.4 conversion to 2.0 mondy zetec?

You will need to change your engine mounts to 1600si ones for the 2.0 conversion basically

please dont take the cvh mounts out and put zetec mounts in for a mondy lump

if the cvh mounts allow you to fit a cvh turbo lump then i know which route id be goin :thumbsup:

ther the same power standard but the cvh offers more tuning potential and because its a turbo the rewards for mods are good :thumbsup:

my 2litre has stage 2 head, kent cams?, rs1800 head, decat exhaust and a chip with remap and is only pushing 150 ish as the standard ford inlet manifolds are restrictive

to reach any more power i would have to go throttle bodies or carbs and would need different management then

true but i know the turbo poses a lot of trouble! and at this stage in my life and being 18, i would be perfectly happy to keep my 1.4, buy a 1.6 and do the 2.0 conversion, keep the 1.4 as a runabout and then when i have set my foundations with a salary i would do the turbo route :P what you think?

end of the day its ur car ur choices
i was merely suggestin the turbo route as it would be different to the 2litre mondy norm
you can keep the boost low and jus run it standard
or you could make a zvh n/a screamer :hmm:

honestly if you want a 2.0 just sell your 1.4 and you'd get a 1.6 for similar money then stick the 2.0 lump with alot less hassle (and save money if your paying someone to do the work). plus with the 1.6 you get the the wingbacks. I can understand you not wanting to get rid of your car due to us all loving our pride and joys but if saving money and makin life easier is your priority then get looking at 1.6's.

and one more thing i think the 1.6 gearbox is longer ratio than the 1.4 so should be better for the extra power, some people even think the 1.6 is too short and go 1.8, just something for you to think about :thumbsup:
