cheers mate, honestly being my first fulll kit (front) of polies theyre brilliant, no movement int he front end whats so ever, really shows up the back end now though, seriously need some rear top mount ones now, mine are shattered really banging around over bumps

for the price of them, plus the fact mine needed rep[lacing anyway, its far better sence to upgrade to poly bushes for the price, and flo-flex are nice and cheap, but havent seemed to compromise on quality over powerflex/superflex, and have a better range on fords than superflex anyway, powerflex dont even do the top mounts for a mk3 fiesta!

managed to get a stand pass, but its with FSI.com not FT liek i would have prefered, but my fault for missing the pay deadline but atleast ill still be on stand, and big thanks to onslack for getting me it last minute

as im gonna be on stand, im pulling out all the stops now to get the car ready by saturday, a BIG plan is in effect, on my lunch break from doing it infact, other things like painting upt he mirrors and that rusty spot, satin black a few things and yellow caliper paint will also need to be done by saturday (driving to northhamton for the hotel)

so me and matt are hard at it, and booked a few days off work to help

and out! were very chuffed, no hoist and left the gearbox in, was tough wiggling it free but hey come out in the end








sits so much higher now with no weight in it lol, half the engine is in the boot lol so the back end is really low

had more progress today, got the engine out of the Si, at long last, took almost 10 hours! ABS is a fucking PAIN! god, took hours to detatch it

im strongly considering removing it, anyone got any advice or shall i just take it all off, and by pass the pipes going tot he modulators to the juntion thing on the wing? should work

not that its gonna be too anoying to put back in but in the future again on removing engines or gearboxes etc it will deffo get in the way

bloody thing is useless anyway, sometimes it doesnt even prevent lock ups in the dry

tomorrow im gonna try and find a hoist as i cant see me and matt lifting the engine and box in easy, anybody have any tricks or good ways ofgetting them in without a hoist???

this ABS system is such a bitch, who ever thought of this needs a bullet in his head, so rediculas, reading the haynes, which says it uses a clutch type bypass mechanism, jesus














tomorrow will be less progressive, got an job interview and matt is busy with similar things too, so i will just swap the clutch onto the 1.8

Day 3 in South Wales

well time for the Si to have an engine back

sorry for the arty pics of the back of my head! but matt got camera happy and decided to rape my identity

this was rather tence, never want to raise a car this high again, but sliding the entire lump and gearbox assebely in on the cart seemed the easiest method, matt was right with it

we started the day by cowering in the garage from the rain, removed the gearbox from the 1.6 and clutch with it, oh and since its such a good job and very unasuming, swapped the satin black cam cover too

the method, step by step, beam of wood to act as a crossmember, jack in centre, highten untill cant take it anymore with jack, hold with stands and add a brick tot he jack and start over a gain

looks unsafe, but at a steady rate and using the stands as a failsafe and two pair of eyes watching it raise, it went up ok



under it goes, had to raise the cars front valance up to 34 inches :aaah:

as we left it for today, A-team in the cinema and a well earned break was on the agenda


tucked the 1.6 away, still not decided on what to do with it atm, its a good engine with a good service history, pulls like its on 30k miles, might keep it for future use, or sell it for the right price


more coming tomorrow now, should get it finished and running, things left to do:
Fit radiator and pipe coolant hoses in
fill coolant
finish bolting the inlet on (two bolts)
plug everything in eg sensors
heat shield
coilpack, leads and lead cover
thermostat and relevent piping
fit the 1.8 Blob mondeo Ecu
bypass the ABS and remove the drivebelts for the modulators, pipe in the pipes from the resevour to the brake pipe split in the wing
bleed brakes
few other things ive probably forgotten

my grandfather and his woodturning club helped out by skimming my brake discs for me, when i bought them they had some pitting that the pads through general braking didnt clear, so theyre nice and flat now so the pads will have nothing but clear contact with the discs
will need new brake pads soon as they aint got much life left in them, EBC green stuff's are on the table atm, not bad price at just shy of £49 for the pair set

its almost ready for Ford Fair, need to loosen the timing belt tensioner a tad,belts too tight and is screaming for mercy, litrally!, and swap the water pump pully as its wobbling/wonky and hitting the cambelt cover a bit making a noise, the exhaust is banging around a tad so new mounts are needed and its ready to go

all you need to make it 130 spec is cams, throttle body,maf and then a chip to get it running proper i think

well the water pump gasket failed due to the water turning to gas and causing too much pressure while int he traffic for Ford fair, the pump was ordered the monday, it arrived tuesday, and i started to fit it later after work




was agaionst the clock so the missus come to give a hand



no more picks but i run out of time that night, continued last night and got it timed up and its going fine, put some antifreeze in it today and the water level is holding


today i fitted one of the pop out windows, i put the pressure on it with my slipper son insid elol, and mat outside was ready, all of a sudden it just popped out, swapped one pop out window for another





i think it looks great, nice and practical also

not that easy considerign id thought it was a direct fit, i had to tap the hole sin the b piller to take larger bolts, (next size down was too big for the hole)

had to kick the window out had to cut the c pillar trim a bit too

wasnt too hard

but wasnt a direct bolt on as such but still ya done a good job though
