That is like an air feed, you put that duct in the front of the airbox, which is on the right of the engine bay, theres a pretty obvious clip for both ends, its an easssy thing just to put in won't take more than 30 seconds

The alternator is off of another 1.6 Si so its the same one :)

Yeah but its a pain to access from above I had to get below it to find where the rattling was coming from :lol:
Oh well Suppose I should go do this now.

Edit:
Sorted its back on seems a bit superfluous with the K&N on it though.
I'm not sure how long the K&N filter has been on it but it looks a bit gunked up can I take it off and clean it then put it back on without harming the filter/car?

right gonna bite the bullet been reading about changing the fan/aux belt and i kinda understand it.
From what i gather i need to jack car up, remove drivers side wheel and arch liner then another piece of plastic. Theres a socket i need to loosen to slacken the belt then it all goes a bit poof in my head :lol:

anyone explain it like change the belt for dummies :)

Oh you have a K&N, Forget that air feed thing then just chuck it lol all you gotta do it unclip the jubille from the K&N and slide it off. get a K&N servicing kit, clean it, then slide it back on the MAF tighten the clip, job done, you can't break it theres nothing you could do unless you were completley stupid and put a screwdriver through the cone or something.

Cheers chris. Going to take the bit of plastic off when I get under it again next weekend (never spent so much time under a car as lately)

It seems to be the aux/drive belt that is the issue and halfords don't stock the 94 fiesta 1.6 injection so going back tomorrow morning to get one ordered and then get it fitted saturday.

I shall let you all know if I have finally defeated my arch nemesis :devil:
(and the squeak is back!)

ok belt replaced. It was really worn something rotten. It was hell to get on as i didn't realise till after i got the belt on the nut i was meant to undo to slacken it :(

light is still flashing and my god the noise its making. The idle tensioner is knackered or i should say the bearings are.
So getting it booked into a garage to get it done as it looks like I would have to drop that side of the engine to get to it properly.
Hopefully then problem sorted :D
