Hay you guys.

I need help finding a good value head unit.

My requirements basically are

USB connectivity
Equaliser with hpf and lpf filters
Under £150 budget, the cheaper the better

Any gurus on here?

i got one of them sony xplod units it was a good price and had usb and aux input. also it doesnt jump playing playing cds, even with mega stiff suspension. best one iv had in the car. I think it was only £90

USB - FAT32 (so like 1 TB max lol)
Aux
CD+MP3
4x50w rms
Sub/rear pre out switchable
etc.

And it glows green!!!! lol so goes with the rest of the instrument illumination

try cleaning it, mine is perfect. iv had a good few in there including a kenwood one and JVC and this is the best even over a mega speed bump estate i used to live on lol

Well from actually owning it, it does have all of those things apart from the 2 more outputs (Which you don't need unless you want like 6 subs lol)
And the 7 pre-set EQ curves, the kenwood has 11
And D/A is another name for RDS

dont think you can go wrong with the Pioneer Ry

thats the only kit i have had in my car and always found they are full of features and have good sound setup controls

Yeah I've had in my time a sony (which was actually very good) alpine, pioneer, jvc and a kenwood, but I've always been most impressed with the features of the pioneer. I think i've already made up my mind but I do appreciate all the input. I miss the acoustics of the 306 as anything sounded brilliant in them compared to the cabins of the fiesta, 106 and the tinny light sound of the teg! (worst car for acoustics ever!)

I just want a HPF as i'm keeping my standard speakers in there, and just want to clarify them as much as possible whilst all bass goes into my JL audio 10".

The amp I have has HPF and LPF but it's only a 4/3 channel amp, and i'm using it basically as a mono block for the sub.

Thinking about it I could get away with using the headunit preout for the sub and the other 4 speakers for the amp, but that involves too much messing about really!

That's how i have my setup for my sub too, it's a 4 channel but i just have it on LPF mono for the sub

I've changed all of my original speakers for 180w ones, but the good thing is you can't see that i have changed them - i think thats chavvy.
I do remember once when i was playing around with my headunit it gave me options on what size my speakers are, options for front, rear and sub/rear
I think it did 4", 5"1/2, 6", 6x9, 7x10, and for the sub it went up from 6-15"
Can't remember how i did it now though :/

Filmed it on my trusty JVC Everio, not HD, but acceptable quality as it has a Konica Minolta 2.2-77mm lense with 35x optical zoom. Main reason why i got it was for sound quality and it's got 2.1 channel, picks up the bass really well and doesn't distort on anything below 130db

try car audio security they got loads of deals going all the time pretty good. Got my alpine from there at about 10p quid less than halfords.
