Good evening,

My name is Jake and I passed my driving test on Wednesday 16th June 2010. I bought a Ford Fiesta SI and loved driving it on my Provisional liscense.

However, now I've passed, I'm looking at insurance quotes for £3000 minimum.

I was wondering if anyone new of any good insurance companies that specialise in either: Giving Ford Fiesta owners cheap car insurance, or an insurance company that gives cheap and affordable quotes for 17 year old students.

Whack your mum/dad on as a named driver. Is it a 1.4? I was paying £140 monthly for mine so it's never cheap. Just gotta do some searching 4youngdrivers.com is a good comparison site (might be different, google it)
but comparison sites add commision so go direct :D

Direct Line and LV will not offer me a quote because the car is "High Performance".

It is a 1.4L engine.

Quinn gave me a quote for £4000.

I've used the following compare websites: gocompare, moneysupermarket and confused.com

I have also checked the Direct quotes from Quinn, Asda, Norwich Union, Young Driver etc...

I have my mum as a named driver but it doesnt seem to help much.

I havent called any insurance companies yet. What do I do/say to try bump their price down when calling? I've never done anything like this before.

Try endsleigh. That's where I started. Jesus the accident rate must have gone up to make a 1.4 high performance.
try taking your mum off and just yourself as well. Wordy comes to worst get your mum to take out the quote and put you as a named driver. If she's happy with that though as you might mess up her no claims

I tried a few with my mum has the policy holder and me a named driver. The cheapest quote I got was £3000 lol.

Why do insurance companies want so much from new drivers? they aiming to bankrupt us or something? >.< I know statistically we're meant to crash within a few months of passing but still... Dont penilise(sp?) everyone!

i was insured third party f+f on a 1.4 escort wen i was 17-18 for 1300 ish iirc
you will find somethin
i started with coop
then directline wen i was 21 n now im with swift at 24
oh n a lil stint with equity redstar who were very very good wen i had a claim i came out that 4k up :thumbsup:
you do need to build no claims up so try stayin on ur own
and dont crash it happens to toooooooo many :D

1.4 si's are rip offs for insurance there in a stupid group, dan on here took his off the road to track it and bought a 1.4 seat arosa 16v sport which is 105bhp and its cheaper than the si. my 1.1 rattler cost me £1400 for my first year in my own name.

I started off at 18, stuck my mum down on the 1.4 si

She had 5 years ncb and me down as named driver.
paid 1200 a year.
200 deposit, and 100 a month!

now, a year later, im still on my mums on a 1.6 si instead, with no NCB (she didn't hit anything, she just got a car and used it on hers)
and now I pay 140 a month, but only £10 deposit. 1600 a year.

Can't be bothered leaving my mum's insurance, don't really wanna pay the full wack.

Never crashed, never claimed.
Passed 2nd time.
Have a old friend gone through 4 cars and a bike, another friend died, injuring 1 with him. and several other friends that have totaled cars, or came EXTREMELY close.
Yet, i seem to be the only decent driver out of my group of mates :P
With the fastest car.. (not that the 1.6 is a speedgod, we all know that lol)

Anyway.

First insurance was with SwiftCover!

Now I'm with Qwik Fit!
