Has anyone with 2.0 conversion changed the log book from 1.6 to 2.0 ?

Should we and what's the advantages\disadvantages if we do\don't.

I declare it as 2.0 for the insurance.

If you do declare it your insurance is still valid but the premiums will rise, im not sure if u declare it that your car tax would rise or not

I would just do it to get the paper work correct.

if your insuring it as a 2.0 then might aswel change the log book. just out of interest how different is the insurance between being 2.0/1.6?

im not 100% sure but i heard you have to either have proof or a legitimate garage doing the work or have it checked over by such garage to insure the work is done properly and the car is safe.

mine was done on the log book and via the insurance, tax never changed as you said

but... the DVLa have got a new thing in now, you have to have proof and reciepts that the work was carried out by a garage etc

im pretty sure it had to be a letter from the garage concerned detailing the engine swap rather than a reciept. i.e. that it wasnt bodged. OR you have to have an engineers inspection report. its only been in about 7 or 8 months i think. the details are on the dvla website.

obviously if you know someone within the motortrade this scheme falls flat on its arse as its not hard to knock up a letter to the dvla. even though they probably had nothing to do with it.

Jam's advice, as ever, is king. They have made it more of a ball ache though!

Insurance companies share all information, so if someone did insure it as a 1.6 they'd be buggered if they had to claim! Ignorance is not bliss.

But ive also known of someone to keep sending the logbook in time after time, recieving a new logbook showing the previous engine, accompanied by a letter saying you need proof etc etc, but on the 7th attempt of sending the logbook in, it got changed.

Suppose it depends which pencil pusher gets it on his desk, and wether hes in a good mood or not

i treid to get mine sorted 2 years ago but i wasnt able to locate the engine number on the block,(should have checked before it was put in the car) think it rusted away so i just insured it as a 2.0 and left the log book as a 1.6 never going to sell it anyway
