Well my mates just bought a 1.4 Saxo, running GTI calipers and discs, de-cat, and induction. Very impressed with the amount of poke its got, and picks up very well through the gears, would say it wasnt too far off my 2.0 Si (especially as its feeling rather slow these days). Amazed how well it reacts to de-cat and induction, his last car was standard 1.4 and he reckons this is so much quicker with just them 2 simple mods. You would assume that it was 1.6+ under the hood if you didn't know any different.

Ive only ever drove a 1.1 saxo, and a 1.4 106, and both werent bad for what they are tbh.

Although not a saxo but close enough, Matt's 106 ralley 1.6 8v whoooped my 129bhp rs1800 lol

I cant fault them to be honest, I would rather have the 106 over a saxo just cause of the shape

i witnessed a 1.4 saxo years ago...
he tried it on several times and although it was close to 30mph the 1.6si pulled away very comfortabley after that.
I think they are as quick as 1.4Si's as standard.
I'm very suprised the two mods mentioned made such a difference!!

when my totally standard 95bhp 106 xsi (1400cc) followed scott's 106 gti (rr at 136bhp?) and from 0-100 made a gap of a few metres, I was suprised!

Very quick cars! gotta love the 8v torque!

Shame they're shit to live with as a daily.

one day i wanna track a xsi there awesome cars 100 bhp out of a 1.4 and stripped to holy hell go like stink my mate had one with gti running gear cams forced induction and a pugsport and whooped a superchipped and cammed normal shape gti

i would go for the gti over the saxo purely down to the shape but still wouldnt say no to a vts due to the on tap and easily tunable engines :D

iv drove a saxo vts and they're beasts, highley recommended.

im shocked about hearing how quick a saxo 1.4 is with them mods as the vts has been described as similar to a 2.0 si.

they do tend to over heat and reliabillity can be an issue, my mates vts was always in the garage with problems but they do get screwed being the type of car they.

Ry, your 106 would have been circa 100bhp and if i'm correct the 1.4 Saxo's are around 75bhp:

106 engine options:

# 1.4 L (1361 cc) TU3 I4, 75 PS (55 kW; 74 hp) and 89 lb·ft (121 N·m)
# 1.4 L (1361 cc) TU3 I4, 95 PS (70 kW; 94 hp) and 86 lb·ft (117 N·m)

Saxo engine options:

# 1.4 L (1360 cc) TU3 I4, 75 PS (74 hp/55 kW) and 89 ft·lbf (121 N·m)

So they aren't quick as standard cars.
the 106 is a dfferent ball game though :lol:

always prefered the 106 but iv always thought peugoet was top notch during that generation of cars they where nocking out but i think after the 206 all the cars went shite and now citoen are the better optin of the 2, i mean the replacement to the 106 was the 107 which is the same as the c1 but the saxo's replacement was the c2, how do you work that out?
