Hi everyone. I've been reading around this site for a couple of days now and decided that I should say hi!

I bought an SI 1.6 last month for £400 and have been reading up on the new engine (to me) after being a tappet racket nut-job for a long time. It's in Caymen Blue, ford code Q2, which isn't mentioned on the SI section on the front website by the way! It's got an awful lot of little dings and smooth dents everywhere which I'll have to knock out sometime. It's got some rust here and there but nothing serious in the least.

It was definitely a boy racer chav car with the last two owners, and as a result it had lex-butt rear lights and M3 mirrors. Those were removed the same day I got home with parts off my old fiesta. It also has a cone filter (not looked at the manufacturer yet) and a silly entire exhaust that just sounds like somebody took a drill to it all the way down, which it hasn't. I also suspect a couple of other things have been done because it feels a bit more than 90HP.

It didn't have electric windows, central locking, well, the entire electric pack really. Plus it only had the red key and a bust drivers door key lock.

My old car did have everything, including three keys.

So guess what?

My new car now does have electric windows, central locking, three keys, working locks all round, the lot, including the steering lock module and PATS module. That was a fun experience heh.

Is the sports suspension really that hard? It hurts like crazy over some of the more noticable potholes and bumps. Handling is good though, very good.

I have a few things to sort out mechanically on the car, such as some doofus didn't put grease on the rear brake shoes and they clunk like mad setting off.

There are also some mods to do that I have in mind. I've seen the MK5 sunroof mod, which really impressed me as it just looked so good. Colour-coding the mirrors is another, just not sure if I should paint all of the mirrors or just bases or what. The interior lights may go all blue. The spoiler I'd paint to match too. I also have a full XR2i bodykit which I'll be colour-coding and putting on.

I kinda lied about working locks all round. The boot lock is knackered! Tempted to at some point de-lock and get RCL. Also need to do the poot popper, which is wired in the car properly, through the roof lining, but need to do the wire bit in the bootlid itself (got some wire coathangers for this). Until then I have to get in the boot through the rear seats!

I wouldn't worry about it matey. My drivers door lock is buggerd so I get in and out through the passenger door :lol:
