Drove to college this morning, fine, parked up, fine, left it for 4 hours, came back, unlocked it, fine, turned key:


BEEP BEEP BEEP

so i was like wtf.

telling me the engine temperature was to high even though it was parked for 4 hours!

tried again, same problem, not starting

3rd time lucky, it started but it's in limp home mode, engine management light is on, no power what so ever

Rob is plugging it into diagnostics tomorrow, things maybe a sensor has gone pete tong, just hope its not expensive

i know it sounds stupid but have you tried double locking it. double unlocking it then starting it up again? had a few cars come in that have been in limp mode then ok after locking/unlocking them

hope its nothing expensive

well lo and behold i was on the way to rob to investigate and maybe try the battery off trick and the engine management light turned off

took it for a rag to check it performed as it did and it does.

confused!

Could have been a hot sensor, the cam (one of, quad cam remember ) sensor on my Subaru throw's up a fault code when it gets hot then you boot it, ie sat in traffic long period of time. I just clear the code with the scan guage as its common fault on the Bugeye's.

yeah maybe, i'll see how it is today

but when i was in traffic it was fine and it was left parked for 4 hours

and on reliability, it fixed itself but seriously i've had no major problems with it minus a wheel bearing but i am wary now as with the cutting out episodes and now this, maybe that ECU reset by ford was not as hot as it was made out to be

rob pluggged it into the diagnostics and it only came up with a pats communication error so that was cleared and it has been fine since

My Si did that one night I didn't have a clue what it meant, i turned the key, tried to drive and it just went into limp mode :S As i didn't know cars did that I was very confused and worried, next morning it fired up fine and didn't do it again!
