i have been on the forum for quite a while now, but i have yet to attend a "meet" mostly because the last 3 years i was studying hard towards my degree and because i was working all weekend as the audio fitter for a company who many of us slate but then later go crawling to for parts such as oil filters, oil, thermostats gaskets etc..

one of the other reasons i haven't attended a meet is cause my FSI isnt exaclty show car material, its 15 years old, the turbo body kit and bumpers dont fit very well, some gypsy key'd it cause i parked to near there trailor,
it has the odd ding here and abit of rust on the wheel arches, and its not particularly fast either, it made 119hp on supermarket fuel at its last rolling road,

so im just wondering, if i turn up to a meet am i going to be the laughing stock of fsi,

the only member who has seen my car was philsi when i collected some sensors off him. haha

as you can see by my sig my fsi is sorn at the moment, ive been traveling in Canada for the last 10 weeks , and i'll be back packing in the states for another month before returning home to fix my car get a job and make use of my degree, so now i dont have a weekend job i have the opportunity to come to a meet (once the car is fixed) and find sisisisi to get my £70 back for the cylinder head he never produced. haha

I thought that when I went to my first one but everyone I've met so far is generally a bice person and there all interested in the same thing being on this forum

i honstly wouldn't worry buddy, we go to meet up and having an interest in cars and having them there at the meet to look at just gives us all a good starting point to have a chat

cars are not the most important thing , so feel free to pop along to which ever meet is closest to you

we do our best to make sure newbie's/new people to the meet are made to feel as welcome as possible

since owning my si..my car ownership has been nothing to be proud of..ive rocked up to stuff in a super shonker Mk2 golf..the ubiquitous MK3 white daily...and the last southern meet i rolled up in a dirty and doggy lookin volvo estate lol

Its not all about the cars ya know...last southern meet it was good to catch up with some old faces/people

I wouldn't worry about the state of the car being an issue at all. My car is not going to win any beauty pageants but I'm still allowed to bring down the feel of the meet

I wouldn't worry, I turned up at the last northern meet in a C2!!!

I will admit I didn't point and laugh at someones car at the rolling road, but that was the car combined with an orange man trying to break into it.

Okay thats cool,
so can i expect to see some other "bangers" at the meets,
i got bored in canada i flew back the other day once ive gotten over the jet lag problem i will start working on the banger hopefully i can make the next meet when ever it is.

I remember the first meet I went too. Turned up in a car that hadn't been cleaned in weeks and had a hole in the bumper a a huge dent on the wing

I never got laughed at though

iv been thinkin the same thing as my car is in a state with growing rust lol, i wouldnt call your car slow with 119bhp as in si terms its pretty fast, mines still a 1.6 but it did make 95bhp hehe.

have you seen the state of some of the other cars that turn up.... Onslacks in particular, proper shed, would make your car look like concours

You could turn up to a rolling road day with a half painted rs kit. (not that i would do that...(even though it made one of the best power from a 2.0 ))
