i know it was broken and everything but i still think everyone that was involved with it did a good job sticking with it as long as you did. most people would have just sold or scrapped it right away.

those 1300 rattlers go on for an eternity lol...the only way youll kill it is to run it with no oil or water at all..and even then you have to seriously cook it to make it scrap

yeah i know, my mum told me a few weeks ago that the oil light was flashing on and off when she was driving it so i dipped it and there was a few mill on the bottom of the stick

only problems i can think of are that the brake pedel vibrates a bit when you brake lightly and i think the bushes in the gear lever or the gearlinkage has had it becuase somtimes it wont go into gear properly and it just grinds

yes it is, but the engines they used were the later ones with the later carb so they had 6bhp less and to make it worse they fitted it into one of the bottom of the range models so it was a kind of half arsed attempt at a hot fiesta.

but like i said, i am taking insperation not making a replica

just thought i would give a little update on what i have done today even if it's very little

well i gave it a good wash. under the sills, the arches, behind the valences pretty much everywhere and i was suprised by how much crap it picked up. on the fuel filler pipe there was a good inch of hard mud so now i know what rotted away the fuel filler

also i tried to get rid of some scratches with a little bit of t cut scratch remover on the bonnet and it worked quite well.

i would get some pics up of the shiney car but i still havent found a camera

thanks alot, well todays daily update is that i topped up the oil so it will last till the weekend so that i can change the sump plug crush washer.

i am planning on adjusting the valve clearences and i might paint the rocker cover while it's off but i dont know if i should do it black or maybe silver just to tidy it up a bit

been quite busy today and given the fiesta a service. the really need changing an as i had to fit a new sump plug i gave it a change.

the last owner said he had serviced it himself but the oil filter was rusted on

when i adjusted the rockers i did them to the haynes mesurements and it sounds the same when it is running. am i being too hopefull thinking that the tappet noise will be any quieter?
