I only dismiss one ford instantly... the Fiesta ST.

It is a great car but it just doesn't fit anywhere.

It is probably my accountant thinking which does that, it just doesn't represent good value which makes it impossible for me to want it.

As you may guess my C2 is marginaly slower but a lot cheaper to buy/run/insure. But if I wanted more the 182 is marginaly more expensive to run/insure but a lot quicker, it just sits in a very strange middle ground for me.

Just to add balance the Mk7 zetec-s offers great value, its marginally slower than a C2 VTS but is cheaper to insure etc and I would say it offers better value than a C2 VTR. Basically it fits somewhere.

Of course you will never be converted to this way of thinking but generally facts and figures are on my side while your arguement is much more based on opinion.

i'm getting 30mpg, not far off the C2 on the miles u get to a tank, my insurance is marginally more then yours and i'm only 22, and it handles perfectly well

Insurance is done to all sorts of factors, the ST would be a lot more for me to insure here in iraq.

You get the same mpg driving calmly than I do giving it some.

But the big one to my inner accountant, a C2 VTS will cost you a lot less to buy.

As I say the ST is nice but it either needed to be a little better or a little worse for it to make sense.

My point is I can see many cars at different prices points/purposes etc and can see where they all have there space.

I make the point of if the ST was a little worse (a little less power, 1.6 engine, group 8 insurance) then it could easily go against the C2 with how I work things. As I keep saying an extra 400cc and 6 jumps on the insurance group just doesn't make sense for what could be argued is a slightly better car.

Likewise I am looking for a second car which is bigger, resonablely quick and cheaper to insure and the 307 seems to come out well, (1.6, 110bhp, Group6). So yes its a bit cheaper to run etc and is a bit slower.

My point all along is the ST is a bit better but a lor mroe expensive to buy/run. Hence is makes no sense to an accountant like myself.

My all means the Mk7's do fit in my lineup and if the zetec-s was older/cheaper it would give my 307 a good run, more importantly the ST looks likes its everything it should have been and may give the frenchies a good run at the top end.

As for less torque, well that was bound to happen, but you can make up for it with revs it would seem.

I have an interesting side arguement to poor depreciation on a car, its not to bad if you are buying used cars as you get more car for less money. If buying new then I would worry more and maybe wouldn't have bought a C2, but the worse of the depreciation is over in 3 years, which is how old it was when I bought it.

As I say I am not loyal to the french cars, I am loyal to my wallet... which points at french cars for the time being.

at the end of the day you must be French obsessed if you are gonna get a 307 haha

an old neighbour of mine had one and it was worse car they have ever owned, granted front on it looks good but it's bad from the back, and the 308 omg it's worse

at leastyou c2 looks half good I'd stick with that or get a vw golf or something

the fiesta st was and is still a great buy end of story, not the most reliable but it handles well, is easily tuneable and more friendly than a Clio 182 yet not as slow as a c2

still not as good as a mk7 zs overall though I'd have a zetec-s back in a flash, cough :D
