I have trouble getting in to gear and when running hot changing gear. Had the clutch looked at the garage and they say nothing

wrong with the clutch, changed the clutch cable, but still doing the same. Any thoughts???? dont think there is anything wrong

with box. the clutch pedal still at the same height as the brake pedal, but not much biting point on the clutch

when was the gearbox oil last changed?
is it a manual or auto pedal adjuster (white knob on the front of the pedal is the giveaway)
you say no real biting point..is it biting at the bottom or the top of the pedals travel.
is the linkage stiff..i.e push it into one position and it stays there?

Just trying to cover some of the bases from your description thats all

is it stiff getting it in gear or does the gear linkage feel stiff at the gear leaver end could be ceased up linkage

havent changed the gearbox oil since i had it (5years)lol, but got them to check it when i took it to the garage about the clutch change, they said it was fine. biting point is at the bottom of the pedal, i believe its auto pedal adjuster its a 1990 H reg if thats any gd to u.

you dont have to listen to me tho , there is a mod for the linkage detailed on zetecinside.com scroll to the bottom of the link page (http://www.zetecinside.com/xr2/gearbox.shtml) as there is normally a bit of play in the u/j at the end, which will be magnified by the time it gets to the gearlever. also the guts of the gear lever can fall apart. again the bits for that are not especially expensive and i think it comes as a kit. fords themselves would be in a better position of advice that one. im pretty sure that would be the end of your sloppy gear lever. id try a gearbox oil change on that side of things to begin with. fords never put a drain plug on the BC boxes which means its very often neglected. only other thing i can suggest is (and you probs did it when you replaced the cable) is to reset the auto ratchet, lift up the pedal and let it reset then push the pedal all the way to the floor a couple of times. that might solve it.

Hope that goes some way to giving you an idea. i doubt it can be much else to be honest.
