Here are a couple of videos I have taken tonight, on my phone, of the exhaust of my 2.0 Si

Any ideas what would cause this as it doesnt seem to be running right, im sure it shouldnt be popping and going like it is on idle

Also it seems to be using a stupid amount of fuel. The cat has been removed and I dont know what has been done with the Lambda sensor as it was like this when I bought it. I've owned the car for about 6 weeks and because of one thing and another I have only driven it about 40 miles after getting it home and it had used half a tank of fuel on the fuel gauge although it took 14 litre of fuel to brim it it so its not actually used half a tank but 40 miles to 14 litres still points to a problem somewhere

The EGR has been removed and there are various screws in various pipes to block it off

It really is one thing after another with this Fiesta at the moment, I wish I hadnt bought and spent the money on my FRST instead but I've got it now so may as well get it all sorted and running properly

Any ideas on what is going on and possible causes would be brilliant

It is also stalling when coming to a stop every so often and I took all the plugs leads off. Plug 1 has oil in it, Plugs 2, 3 and 4 are all dry

Also this earth lead seems to not be connected anywhere, it is connected at the turret but nothing on the other end

have you removed the spark plugs themselves? take each one out and get a pic up
the earth should be attached .
its miss firing like a bitch could be head gasket, plugs/lead coil pack.
do you have a engine management light on as the lambda sensor shold be installed.
the oil could be from filling it up and a little has dripped into the recess

when jason had it this car was running fine although he was unsure wether it had been cammed by a previous owner could explain the idling issues and the fuel consumption

edited: just watched the videos and i never heard it run like that :?

I'll put the earth back on tomorrow, it has been off since I picked the car up so cant imagine that is causing the problems but I will get it done

I'll see if I can get a compression test done as well

Seems to definately be missing but it only had plugs and leads in November so shouldnt need changing again already

Not sure if this is going to be of any relevance but also when starting it can take around 5 seconds of cranking before it will actaully start and when stopping it can stall but it has done that since I collected the car

I replaced the MAF with a known 2.0 one yesterday and reset the ECU but the videos above were taken tonight so doing this didnt fix anything

I've replaced the coilpack and fitted the earth lead this morning

Still runs the same

I havent tried changing the coolant temp sensor, I will try and swap this at lunch and also try and get the plugs out to have a look at them

No idea about the lambda, i'm not even sure if one is fitted and cant get under the car to have a look at the moment

the oil around your plug could be the rocker cover gasket leaking?

iirc you should be able to see the lambda poking out if you look down by the rad, water pipe side i think

let us know how you get on

I think it could be the rocker cover gasket leaking and the oil around the plug is stopping it from firing so the fuel is not being burnt so more fuel is going through as its not being burnt properly

I'm going to clean the oil out from that plug at lunch and see if that makes a difference and if it does illhave a look at the cam cover gasket and get another one

wierd tickover, when rev'ed or driven does it run ok? hence only at tickover. if runs fine generally worth checking the Lambda sensor as if running the standard ECU would still be required. if misfiring gererally could be a dodgy plugs or injector, can be easier to just unplug each injector cable in turn to try and find the faulty cylinder. also check the vacumme hose connection on the fuel regulator as this reduces fuel pressure at tickover. As it sounds from others that it did run fine unlikley to be as a result of wild cams but large overlap cams can result on poor tickover without re-map

I have tried a spare coilpack, set of plugs and leads and it still misfires

I have this afternoon replaced the plugs with a brand new set and it still sounds like the videos above

I am going to try the other coilpack again and my other set of leads and if these both do nothing I am going to source another coilpack to try

did you try removing the injector connector plugs in turn, to see if you could pin it down to one cylinder?
