after finding a extra ignition barrel hidden on a fiesta in the scrap yard it got me thinking of how i could add a simple yet affective bit of security that would be quite difficult to get around using the gear stick. :D

the best place i can find to explain is it here.. http://www.bear-lock.pl/enuslugi.php

little lever that locks the arm in gear, preventing it from being driven.

what ideas do you guys have that i could use to make my own as i know what i want to do, just cant get my head around the mechanics part of it!!

Just put a switch on the starter motor feed, then hide it in the dash somewhere. Simples.

could do that as well, but what i was looking for was a physical object to stop the gear stick from moving by using a key and lock!!

the wifes 2i has 1 of those proper locks that locks it in 1st gear, its a pointless waist of space, it locks the car in 1st gear, so you can still nick the car yes it would be a slow get away but it can still be driven.

if i remember i'll take a pic all you can see from inside the car is the lock part the key goes in the rest is under the car.

think it would be easier to use a standard crook lock steering wheel thing, may be in conjunction with a switch on the fuel pump feed, one thing i like about clearly visual security devices is hopefull put them of breaking in in first place rather than smash window and try rip dash apart
